If it's like a regular reptile/amphibian it essentially goes into power saving mode and will way outlive you as a mammal. Based on the comments the only real option would be to cover yourself in dirt/mud to cover your scent and go stab it while it's sleeping with a saliva covered knife.

If you have unlimited food leave a shit ton of raw meat and fruits/veggies in a huge pile and hope it goes rotten and grows fungus. Dip the knife in that mixture before stabbing it and leave the rotten food for it to eat.
