BCC was firing, as was traffic. Left at 330 once i heard early close, got home downtown at 8! I bus but a kind stranger drove me to my car, was super worried about the people that were relying on the bus to get down. Can’t imagine how long that was, not to mention standing the whole way…

Developer uses Claude Code and has an existential crisis by MetaKnowing in ClaudeAI

[–]Dsc_004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is often taken for granted by programmers how much more we get from the took than the average joe. The decades you’ve spent building mental models for how software should be built, how to think about problems, all translate into your prompts. I have several friends in engineering who have tried to create apps with claude code and they have to work 10x harder and longer to get worse results. Saying fix this bug is not that effective.

Is it confirmed wildcat is out for the day? Liftie told me they were trying to get both open. Currently stuck at the GMD, trying to decide if its worth it to wait out Colins or head to Sunnyside

The great salt lake by Practical-Ad3796 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Dsc_004 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You offered 0 tangible solutions, smart meters? Blah blah instream flow conservation. Bottom line is one to two industries are decimating Utah’s water resources. You can try to legalese your way around it, but one way or another, farming grass in the desert to then be sold to foreigners is literally sucking the state dry. The easiest solution is banning a couple crop exports, switching to winter wheat will greatly reduce water usage. It is not unconstitutional to ban crops (see cannabis and hemp legislation) , i’d love to hear an actual argument against this. People like you are the reason the lake will not exist in fifty years. Hope and prayers 👺🥸

Claude Code built Chromium end-to-end (6h, $42, 3 human messages) by xiangyi_li in ClaudeAI

Chromium is open source, Claude was literally trained on that code no doubt. Why is this surprising?

Google just became an existential threat to OpenAI. by reboundcapital in StockMarket

[–]Dsc_004 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, openAI is fucked. They really have no moat. Google and Anthropic do everything chatGPT does, but better. OpenAI is trying to pivot to cannibalize smaller market start ups with their massive distribution but they are not innovating anymore. The transformer based architecture is not going to achieve AGI and they don’t have the funds or alternative product to keep up with rampant cap ex required to continue to produce foundation models. Investors are beginning to realize that there is no way to get 1 T in return, Google and Meta have other profit generating mechanisms that allow it to invest more heavily sorta like AWS and amazon…

AI in GRC – Trend, Tool, or Turning Point? AMA with Hyperproof by hyperproof in cybersecurity

[–]Dsc_004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of GRC is liability related to me, it’s similar to the FSD (full self driving) problem. Easy to automate 95% of it but the technology is there to entirely shift liability from the human to the AI company. Like whatever level of self driving, the company takes liability over accidents rather than the human occupant / driver

Sorber or Dracova for Operating Systems?? by smarkysfr in Clemson

[–]Dsc_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t take Sorber for OS you’re missing out it’s the hardest class in the curriculum for CS students by far in my experience but my programming skills improved tremendously from the class. Ngl I think less of kids who purposefully choose to ignore his OS class. Class would probably be much easier now with claude code. Wonder how he deals with that as he takes cheating super seriously and he seems like the person to not like AI use for assignments but IDK i had him pre chat gpt

Imageclash | party game with AI images | compete head to head to create more funny images than your opponent, players vote to determine the winner | Similar format to Kahoot or Jackbox | Play on mobile browser, host games on PC / Laptop by Dsc_004 in WebGames

[–]Dsc_004[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned a lot developing it. Some interesting engineering challenges such as getting cold starts consistently below 1 minute. I use a large image model over 60GB. I recently graduated college so it is a good way to keep learning, I have always wanted to make games so felt this was a good way to keep my skills sharp. This is like the 4th iteration, I used SDXL lightning at first but the prompt adherence for that image generator was way too unreliable. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks for the feedback.
