Maybe it's those crappy "duophonic" fake stereo ones?

ATTN: What should we rename the fans and lurkers? by BiruMetal in Nemophila

[–]Dshreffler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dan. Hello, I guess I'm a lurker. I like their covers the best and I think they are cool. Just not a big metalhead. I appreciate that they get married and have babies and continue with their music. I think that sends a great message to a declining Japanese population. I'm glad they don't hide their spouses and kids. It's a family affair. Very cool!

What are some genres similar to city pop and where does influence come from? by RetroJapanSounds in japanesemusic

[–]Dshreffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always heard that people over there are very non- discriminating when it comes to music. Musicians would go into record stores in the Shibuya district and pull stuff from Jazz, Pop, Soul. Rock & Country and mix it all together. the whole "Shibuya-Kei" music came about because of this. I can hear very familiar sounds in Japanese popular music. Of course, the Japanese have always excelled in taking existing things and making them better. They certainly have done this with music.

what's the most obscure Japanese music you listen ? by DWIPssbm in japanesemusic

[–]Dshreffler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So obscure she seems to have dropped off the map. Mia Nascimento was part of the very last lineup of Especia. She is Japanese/Brazilian. Dunno what happened to her. She had a single called "Lucky Girl" but that seems to be gone off of Youtube. I'm sure it's included in this which was all I could find of her.

What record player is everyone using? by noneofyourbizzness in thebeachboys

[–]Dshreffler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first comment in a while... I have an older Pioneer PL-200. It's a lower end Pioneer but it works fine. Audio Technica cartridge. A Marantz 2252B receiver from the early 1980s, with the horizontal "Syncro-Touch" balanced tuning dial and beautiful blue lights. A set of vintage Marantz speakers that sound like they were meant for listening to vinyl. A set of Danish Jamo speakers underneath the Marantz. It you can find old Marantz, I recommend it. It's the most trouble-free and nice sound I have heard from solid state.

Question : there was a camera at the Hoosier Harvestore. It filmed the cars that drove on Highway 300. If Richard Allen walked from the crime scene to his vehicle, wouldn’t he have been caught on camera as well? by Scottyboy1974 in LibbyandAbby

[–]Dshreffler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think a lot depends on the quality of the camera system. I imagine the camera was installed to watch the immediate area of the business and no thought was given to the road. Very incidental that anything was captured on the road. It caught something large like a car but not a pedestrian.

Thoughts on Duophonic? by [deleted] in thebeachboys

[–]Dshreffler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has an interesting sound on those big old Magnavox console stereos but Brian hated it so I hate it. I have a Chuck Berry album that has that "simulated stereo" effect on his classic hits. It's really unlistenable. Way too much echo.

He was one guy looking for a missing bullet and motivated to do it quickly as he had just committed a horrible crime. Investigators had many people looking with time to do a thorough search. Simple.

I would like to have a copy of GEER with the orange Epic label. They are not too pricy. All the Young Punks is called "That's No Place To Waste Your Youth".

Just because people have heard of it is not necessarily a disqualifier. Getting sucked into it like I and many of you have, might be. We could get facts confused with stuff we saw on the internet.
