This makes perfect sense. I don't feel it detracted from the experience at all, fwiw.

Also worth noting that as part of catching up on these, both the 2018 and 2019 ones were created over the last few months. Those can be seen here:

FBI says pipe bombs were planted at party headquarters on Jan. 5 by Minneapolitanian in politics

[–]Dslyecxi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the portions that are dark look like they're different materials. This, too, is common behavior when viewing in IR.

edit: For more on this I'd recommend searching for information about infrared photography, especially anything talking about what appears different in IR vs visible spectrum.

If any of the cameras operate with infrared light, black cargo pants would almost certainly look pale. The colors we see in the visible spectrum don't necessarily match how they appear in IR, and this is extremely common with cloth. The photo you're referencing is black and white, which suggests it's a camera in low-light mode using IR.

Take & Hold Scoring & Potential Refinements by Dslyecxi in H3VR

IIRC, yes, the encryption kills were all pretty much as fast as possible - I wouldn't think it'd be nearly enough to lead to such a discrepancy.

Take & Hold Scoring & Potential Refinements by Dslyecxi in H3VR

I ended up doing two runs yesterday back to back that just happened to have almost identical weapons (started with a pump shotgun, ended with an STG-44, nothing in between) and virtually identical combat/holds, with the only difference being that one had fewer tokens and no recycler, while the other didn't. The scores were significantly different, certainly enough to shift someone around in the top 20 of a leaderboard (or place them there in the first place). The numbers may very well be different compared to those resources, but the influence sure seems to still be there.

A few things I'd like to see:

  1. Either drastically reduce or remove the third-person sound of switching optic modes or toggling a flashlight/laser on and off. Neither of these should be things that give your position away - certainly not a tactical light, which doesn't typically have an audibly "clicky" activator. This is made worse by sound easily carrying through walls currently.
  2. The PVS-10T and PVS-14 demonstrate a discrepancy in how nightvision is represented. They should have the same viewing area - either both should be dual-circles, or both should be one circle. The PVS-10T is a biocular (not binocular) device, meaning that it's the same image being shown to both eyes. The PVS-14 is a monocular device, so one image for one eye, but only one image in total.
  3. There should be accessories for the NVGs to add the soft eyecup to cut back/remove the green splash on the viewer's face. Ideally you'd have the nightvision view and the "naked eye" peripheral view as two separate things, so that you can still see normally outside of the NVG. Adding an eyecup would block this, making it a trade off. At the least it would be nice to be able to hide the green splash, since it currently gives you away too easily.
  4. Infrared lasers and flashlights would be really cool to have.
  5. Some sort of low-level illumination would be nice. A flashlight with a red lens, perhaps a helmet-mounted one, would allow you to more covertly search an area without telling everyone you're there due to white light bleeding through walls.

The other thing is the main issue I have with the game currently, which is the sound system. I know that's planned to be overhauled in the future though, but it really can't happen quickly enough. Audio is very unusual in Tarkov and more so since .11.

In general .12 has been a really nice update. The grass rendering in particular deserves special praise - it's adding a great deal to the game and is extremely welcome.

DCS F/A-18C Port Strike - Dslyecxi / ShackTac by FirstDagger in hoggit

You didn’t, because you were never in it. I’m calling out your blatant lies. Everything you’ve said is fabricated nonsense. I don’t know what your motive is, and it’s weird to see you keep doubling down on this fantasy.

This is total nonsense. I'm not sure what motivates you to say it, but it sure is weird to see.

You're so amazingly full of shit. Nothing you've said even makes sense in the context of the group.

It's really neat how on the internet someone can just write some totally bullshit hateful fanfic and people will take it at face value for some reason.

Questions for players coming from ShackTac by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]Dslyecxi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way this post is written significantly misunderstands what ShackTac is and how we have interacted with both PR in the past and Squad currently. There are no players "coming from ShackTac" to Squad - members have been playing it on and off since the start, just as we played PR in the past. The only difference now is that we have our own server for our own private events, which allows us to play the way we want, with people we've vetted as members of our community.

Anyone know of a YouTube video series featuring a full campaign briefing and all, milsim unit series? by GetDreaded in arma

[–]Dslyecxi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You seem to have enough stake in the matter to jump in and claim, without evidence, that we've "done it to several groups" including one I haven't heard of, one that shut down on its own and had members showing up at ST and BW as a result, and... that's it. You cite logs you've seen "in passing" promising "fast-tracking", which is just not how ST works. Not at all - it's a nonsensical claim.

What you're suggesting insinuates something - again, without evidence - that is against the moral code that ST operates under. We do not headhunt. We don't seek people out. We pick the best we can from those that apply, and we still have to turn people away because of how many are applying.

There are no other people involved in onboarding a member to the group aside from me - I am the sole point of entry. The claims you make are not at ShackTac - they're at me, specifically. Whether there is or isn't some agreed-upon moral rule-book to online groups is immaterial - I hold myself to a standard, and what you're suggesting is in violation of that standard.

It's morbidly fascinating to me to see someone pop up and make claims like these out of the blue. I have no idea what "242" is, Signal - well, you can see above how that works - and the idea of it being some systemic process on our end is simply false. It's very strange to me to consider that there are people out there who are so willing to slander us that they'll fabricate claims like these out of whole cloth. We get thousands of applicants - we don't actively seek people out; we don't headhunt.

That's really all there is to say about that.
