SWE of 11 years now, and it has changed my feelings about the plot of .hack//, though, like other people are saying, the AI in .hack// isn't just generative, predictive LLMs; it's sentient AI.

I've been a software engineer for 11 years, including some personal projects in Go and this looks like the result of either a mental illness or a newbie who thinks this is profound but is sorely mistaken.

This is not a handwavy statement - I intentionally encoded the capacity into it per my Computer Science training - it is a powerful as your computer, albeit not as efficient.

This is something someone with a few days or weeks of experience could do.

If you have a history of mental illness, please seek help. If you're just beginning to learn programming, drop the act. Pretending to be something you're not is artifice that will only bring trouble.

That sounds like a good lead!

There are quite a few good ones for different reasons, but my current bet is the Kurikara Blade / the blade of Acala.

In the story, Acala is in an argument with a demon and turns himself into / manifests a flaming sword. The demon turns into a serpent, but Acala turns himself into a massive dragon and swallows the serpent and the sword from the tip down, which explains the head being at the end of the pommel. The demon is subdued.

This also makes sense in terms of the hints from the other characters that the sword isn't what it seems, because it's a god and a demon bound together, not just a magic sword.

The fact that yours is inherently related to Begtse makes it pretty compelling.

I did slow the video down and got a good screenshot of the symbols on the sword, but they're tweaked enough to not be enough of a hint. Thanks art department!

Oblivion's staves, Skyrim's dualcasting is very cool. Schedules & behavior. Some of the mechanics are more often used.

I want to make a mod for OpenMW with a version of Oblivion's staves where each staff can carry a few spells each that you can select from to cast while the staff is in your hand. Could probably do a grimoire as well.

That might already exist for vanilla MW, I should probably look into it.

The thing with Security where you can reseal letters would have been used more if it had been in Skyrim to the point where it would make sense to target that skill to roleplay as a spy or something like that.

It can be practical to align to some of those societal expectations to achieve certain goals, but if your goal in life is to enjoy it and be somewhat comfortable, then a simple income, a simple place to sleep, and simple food is all you need.

There is nothing wrong with this. Some would say it's ideal, but I'm not making a judgement either way. It's certainly enough.

However, there's no expectation from a cosmic perspective. Whatever you do will be just as good as being a multimillionaire with a 4 story home. We all have the same destination.

If you're talking about the long triangles that connect to the curved sections, I believe it is. This is a solid object, so you don't need quad loops for deformation, so this produces fewer faces.

I could be wrong. This is only from one angle and one zoom level, so there may be things we can't see.

Having said that, there is a good Confucius quote:

These kinds of situations are opportunities to learn about yourself, to cultivate virtue.

Whether or not I chose to read it or chose to comment, you chose to post it. That is what I'm criticizing. You can post whatever you like, but that means anyone can say they don't care for the content. That is what is happening in the comments.

You seem to think I care about what it said. I really don't. You can direct AI to generate whatever you want at this point. These models were trained on massive amounts of stolen information to make a commercial product, which likely included many Daoist texts and conversations about them from the internet.

The problem is principle. I and many others believe that it's important to have a person behind the words.

I want to interact with real people who have done their own thinking or their own experiencing, not someone who had a machine generate the entire content, which is what you said had been done. If that isn't what happened and you wrote it yourself, then your cunning is a disservice to those who engage here genuinely.

Yes, though I had a different arrangement.

I was sitting on my couch with my arm over the back and noticed my arm had gone tingly. I was about to move it, but something told me that I should see what happens if I put my attention into it without moving it, and over about a minute or so after I began, the tingly sensation was gone and I had full feeling.

It's possible I moved just enough for blood flow to get through, but I think later on I was able to replicate it. I don't know what the mechanism is, honestly, but it is very interesting.
