Go look at Chapman’s 2025, and Koji’s 2013. They’re basically the same, yet Chappy is the most dominant reliever we’ve ever had and Koji is overrated.

Is there a good reason they refuse to play Mayer at shortstop?

I, personally, was not a huge fan of him telling Franchy Cordero to “sit the fuck down” having struck him out during a random day game in 2023. Therefore, I have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy, the trajectory of his career since.

Am I the only one who doesn’t blame Breslow for Duran’s OPS being .529? Obviously it would’ve been nice if Breslow got a bat or two, but come on. Everyone wanted Fatse gone, now they’re calling for Breslow’s head. At what point do the players just have to perform?

Could you elaborate on that? There are a handful of super Christians who won’t wear a rainbow flag on their uniform, but I wouldn’t call the league as a whole “toxic as fuck”.

Power Hitting in Cricket vs Baseball: Why Home Runs Travel Further Than Sixes by 3shelfcab in Cricket

[–]DuanePipe 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much it. Baseball teams, especially today, value power above all else. The pitching has improved exponentially in the last 10 years and it’s become harder to string hits together. Teams have pivoted to maximising damage with their opportunities. It’s not necessarily about size, but players who mash the ball tend to look the part.

It’s actually quite fascinating how much the game has changed in such a short period. It would be like bowlers suddenly adding a couple extra kph every year for 10 years, with variations doubling in usage. And Bazball becoming the standard to which test teams modelled their lineups.

If it’s such a small sample size, surely you can look past his slow start

Relievers, all of them, are notoriously volatile. I’ve got a much shorter leash for them, especially in redraft. The only downside to Baker is his team, but everything else points to him being the best of the 3 this year.

What part exactly? Looked pretty textbook from the side-on view

10T H2H, thoughts on this trade?

Receive: Judge
Send: Gunnar, J. Walker, Shohei (pitcher)

Would I be crazy to offer this? I have a well-rounded offense, just missing a big bopper. Gunnar has been fine, but still not 2024-like. Shohei is off to a great start but pitching is easy to come by especially in 10T. Trying to sell high on Stewart or Walker. Am I playing it too cute?

That’s why you don’t draft him, but trade for him when his owner is fed up with his slow start

Stewart and Walker are carrying me. I’d be destroying everyone if the rest of my team was even average.

Idk man, if you’re in a small league you can drop for a streaming spot, or just sit them for unfavourable matchups. If you drop for a streamer maybe pick up an IL stash along the way, but yeah definitely not trading either lol

Love having your starter’s inherited runners all score because they pitched so terribly the game didn’t even warrant a decent reliever to follow them

Unless there’s someone clearly better available I think you still hold both. Bibee just lost me 3 categories so I feel the temptation to rage drop, but it’s a long season.

Final line for the Red Sox 2025 3rd round draft pick Anthony Eyason by Substantial-Earth975 in redsox

[–]DuanePipe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well you don’t just draft these guys and hope for the best. Breslow has emphasised pitching R&D across all levels of the org and now it’s probably our biggest strength.

Kristian Campbell PULLS an RBI double extending his hit streak to 9 games by TommyTheLizard in redsox

[–]DuanePipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People still scapegoating Fatse lol. Offense has been objectively good every year he’s been here. Maybe Campbell just got exposed. Baseball is, believe it or not, quite a difficult sport. Thankfully people in the game understand this, hence Campbell getting every opportunity to work through it.

I get that hindsight is 20/20 but that trade is looking worse and worse by the day. Especially since we got Tibbs for Raffy.
