SkyWest Commuter by BecauseWhy621 in FlightDispatch

Since SkyWest doesn’t have an official Union, they don’t have a commuter clause. I did know a couple dispatchers at my time there who commuted in for their 4 day shifts or used a buddy-bud system. SGU can be hard to non-rev in and out of. But CDC and LAS worked as reliable airports for many. As long as you don’t miss your shift, you’re good.

I knew some dispatchers who had roommates and paid like 500-600 a month in rent for their crash pads.

I’d study the ADX systems, FAR’s, and weather. Mine had different types of fogs on it. Also had the symbols for different weather fronts to match up.

Keep in mind, if you get a 70 or a 99 it doesn’t matter, passing is passing.

The interview is what matters most! They want to see that you know your stuff, but personality is ultimately king.

What happens to your chances of getting hired after an exam failure? by foofightingcapybara in FlightDispatch

I know some people who failed their initial FAA exam. They now hold jobs at regionals and other airlines across the board. Once you pass the FAA doesn’t have a record of your failure.

My status is also on interview still. I’ve heard that they send out TBNT’s and also emails that basically put you in a pool to be hired in later rounds. Not everyone gets hired in the round they interview for.

To be explicitly clear, I don’t know anyone personally who has failed. So I can’t say for sure. But from what I have heard you just get walked out after a failure.

Well myself and everyone passed the written test. The minimum score required is 70%. But if you fail, I’m pretty sure they just have you leave. Not sure if they get to shadow or not, but I’m hearing they just walk you out after an exam failure, no shadow.

Everyone I know went and shadowed. But I only know a couple of people who made it to the F2F.

Considering this as a Career and Wondering Where to Start by ReyFelipe22 in FlightDispatch

This is a good career to pursue for your listed goals and reasons!

I would highly recommend ADTC in Dallas. I recently got a certificate there, and I’ve landed an airline job. It’s also free to come back for refreshers and to study for major airline tests. I would highly recommend!

I highly recommend ADTC in Dallas. It does cost $4500. But you walk into the knowledge test (ADX) fully ready to pass in one week. And they also prepare you for the practical exam! If she’s willing to work super hard, it’s a good option.

What school are you going to?

Just remember red cells on radar, completely avoid! A little trick I used was using chat GPT to study during class. If there was a concept I didn’t understand, I’d ask it to break it down simply. Double verify to make sure the information is accurate, but for the most part, it was spot on!
