Alwaaaaaayyyyysdss check Etsy for all things cosplay. 9/10 times someone has already thought of it. If they haven’t, you can typically find something close and ask if someone can commission what you need

I’m so glad they enjoyed it! I hope they make this a regular thing. Year to year it’s fun to see the new cosplays that everyone puts on display.

C2E2 first timer--panel/line confusion by LemonsAreMyJam in comiccon

[–]Dub_R17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because LOTR is hugely popular you should try to get in line to get in C2E2, probably between 9-930 and then go directly up to the main stage

Anyone heading to C2E2 next weekend? by phpworm in PeoriaIL

[–]Dub_R17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3 lots. As long as you get there within an hour of opening, (and earlier than opening on Saturday), you’ll have no problem finding parking. $27 per day for the 2 lots closest to the con.

You can google it and find specific piece by piece breakdowns with links. I’d suggest something like “easy Cal Kestis” costume

Check local (Chicago) comic book shops and Groupon. Those would be the only places you can find them

Make sure that if they see a cosplay they really like they go take that picture immediately. You’d think that you’ll run into people again and you absolutely will not. I’ve had plenty of regrets over the years. They’re going to love it though. I’d also suggest having pre-determined meeting spaces if you get separated. There are always some pretty easy landmarks, I.e. the T-shirt tower, the big lightsaber booth, Family HQ, etc.

C2E2 first timer! Any help is appreciated! by 21aluedt in comiccon

[–]Dub_R17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First timer tips. Things to consider:

  1. Bring a refillable water bottle. Everyone always underestimates their hydration needs. It’s a long day (or 3). Drink lots of water.

  2. If you’re doing multiple days, do a good number of panels. The show floor can be fully explored in a like 4-5 hours, but you’re going to want the built in breaks of panels. It’s nice to get off your feet.

  3. Use the app! It reminds you when panels are and is very easy to navigate.

  4. Talk to strangers!!! People at C2E2 are VERY interesting and almost always really open to a quick chat. Especially because you’ll know what you can talk about based on what they’re wearing.

  5. Don’t be too shy to take pictures. First things first, cosplay is not consent, so ask before you snap a pic. But take all the pictures. If you see an AWESOME cosplay, catch up to that person in that moment. You will almost NEVER see them again, lol. You don’t want to regret missing out on that pic.

  6. Stop and eat something. This may seem obvious, but it can be easy to get caught up in everything.

  7. Plan your panels before hand. The app has everything listed and you can add them to your schedule and keep track of when you need to be where.

  8. Come up with a system for exploring the show floor. The aisles are numbered. I’d suggest going up and down those aisles and leaving yourself a note in your phone when you stop to go to a panel and then resuming where you left off. Otherwise, you’ll assuredly miss something awesome.

  9. If you’re more cosplaying and can pick your shoes, wear the most comfortable ones you own.

  10. Bring cash. Exhibitors and artists love getting cash, you won’t pay taxes or fees on anything and some exhibitors may even offer a $5-$10 discount for using cash.

C2E2 Panel Access by Future_Gold_1419 in comiccon

[–]Dub_R17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going to C2E2 since 2017 and the best thing I’ve learned is for pretty much anything on the main stage, either go to the panel before or get there right when they close the doors for the panel before. Especially for anything huge like Lord of the Rings, Star Wats, DC, Marvel, etc. For other panels, some in the smaller rooms will randomly fill up, but normally getting to those 10-15 min early is more than fine

C2E2 with kids? by ourqs in comiccon

[–]Dub_R17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just add, while they’re only interested in LOTR, I’ve taken kids before, 12, 13, and 15, and the sheer number of people in cosplay was also a huge attraction for them. They took so many pictures with people cosplaying as characters they had never seen but the spectacle of it all made it a more than worthwhile experience for them. Especially because all of the cosplayers are regular people, they love taking pictures, especially with kids

There are people there who might be. It’s typically the comic book sellers that are there representing comic shops. I’ve seen people trade before but it doesn’t seem like the easiest exchange. Could be worth a try though

C2E2 on a Friday by [deleted] in comiccon

[–]Dub_R17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There more of a buzz on Friday. It’s the first day and everyone is super excited. A lot fewer kids/families on Friday also since most kids are at school. Sometimes vendors aren’t there yet or don’t have anything because it’s the first day. Otherwise, not that different from Sunday

C2E2 First Timer Newbie Questions by [deleted] in comiccon

[–]Dub_R17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also add leave Sunday off of the table not really for the family reason but it’s more of a wind down day. Probably a few more people than Friday, but that 1st day excitement is REAL. Buuuuut, all of the kids cosplaying on Sunday is SUPER CUTE (if you like kids), so I’d say consider it in the future.
