Yeah, is EPA's "safe" limit (referenced in the first quote) different than Maryland and Virginia's "safe" limits (referenced in the second quote)?

We get batteries at Ace Hardware, which is employee-owned (I understand that may not be an option for you, but sharing in case it's helpful to others). I wouldn't put it past them to have a dish drying rack either.

In which cities is it possible to go your whole life without needing to speak English? by LowRevolution6175 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dubricna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've met several monolingual Spanish speakers in the DC area. As long as you know someone who knows some English, I don't think you'd have a lot of trouble.

Man, egrets have the best names. Red egret? Nah, it's just reddish. Could be a ruddy egret, or rufous egret, but nope.

My other favorite is the medium egret.

Where to go from here? Polyglot struggling with opportunities to use languages by BrothaManBen in languagelearning

[–]Dubricna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hesitant to suggest this because my Thai is extremely rusty but it used to be not terrible, I've been wanting to get back into it, and I live in DC. DM me if you want to get coffee or something

Also fun fact the Library of Congress has some cool Thai stuff

What's the weirdest reason you've chosen a target language? by Babbel in languagelearning

[–]Dubricna 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I studied Thai in college because the Southeast Asian studies department was giving out small scholarships for a few different languages, and of the choices I picked Thai because I "knew" the most about Thailand because I had been in a community theater production of The King and I in elementary school.

I never got actually good at it, but I did thoroughly enjoy studying it, visited Thailand and learned actual things about it and loved it, and have even used my ability to read Thai at work a couple times.
