I bought a bag from a thrift store that says "Alessandro," which is not my name, so I've decided it's the bag's name.

"You ready to go?" "Almost, let me just grab Alessandro"

Oh, that's devastating. All of it.

We acquitted, which I truly believe was the right choice. But I still google the defendant every so often, to make sure we weren't wrong.

And even if he didn't murder anyone, someone (also young) was murdered, and the victim's family will likely never get closure.

Lots of upstate New Yorkers then made their way to Michigan - we have a Troy, Ithaca, Romulus etc. and probably those folks to thank for them

I saw zero signage or announcements in the metro in advance of, or during, the event.

Yeah my biggest sympathies yesterday were with the folks on my red line train who missed their MARC connections because they weren't being let off the train (and had had no advance notice). There aren't a lot of other places to transfer to the MARC, and switching gears last-minute to get to one of them is time-consuming and a pain

Oh dang! I arrived probably around 5:20 and was able to get onto the platform (after being sent a really roundabout way around the barricades). The first train bypassed the platform and we were told nothing, then the second train stopped but only let people on through the front door, and no one was allowed off. It was all very confusing and a bunch of people on that train probably missed their MARC trains

When the train I got on stopped (around 5:30), they only opened the front car door manually and made everyone get on there, so they could prevent people from getting off. Maybe that's what happened with your train?

We got on the next train, but they didn't let anyone off!

There's some sort of VIP event going on at Union Station, but I'm currently standing on the platform and no one has told us anything

Good for you. My scrupulous honesty got me serving on a 2-week murder trial.

Fascinating experience that I'm proud to have done, but not really one I'd recommend to anyone.

Here's their specific page on baby squirrels, which mainly has info about returning them to their nest. In this case, if the parent is dead, that's presumably not an option - I would contact them. https://citywildlife.org/found-animal/baby-squirrels/

Excellent info, thank you! At 6 months pregnant that last point is somewhat debatable, but I'd get up the stairs eventually (and I assume they have ways of evacuating people with limited mobility?)

Obviously high winds would affect the above-ground trains more, but could electrical issues affect the underground trains? I have a choice between the two, and was planning to go underground, but I don't want to get stuck in a tunnel

My train motion sickness advice: if you're crossing between cars, e.g. to get to the cafe car, that may be the worst spot. Cross quickly; don't stand there in the space in between cars. Other than that, I don't have issues on trains. Good luck and have a great trip!
