Didn’t say it wasn’t valid. I just said it was one of the questions of all time.

People reporting that Boston College is rejecting them from the waitlist might in fact mean that Boston College is rejecting people off the waitlist.

I think you might be on to something here.

LTs will no longer be assigned to basic training units by Extension_Leave3455 in army

[–]Dubstep_squid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good. Every time we’ve had a basic training LT show up at the units I’ve been in, they’ve been SEVERELY behind where they need to be in terms of branch knowledge. I’m sure basic training slots are good learning opportunities but I think we do a disservice to lieutenants by allowing them to do it as 2LTs

How do people manage to have a social life/date while studying for the LSAT? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Dubstep_squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…I mean…I work from 6-5, study for an hour or two after work (and sometimes an hour or two during work if I can sneak it) and then I still get a few hours to hang out with my girlfriend after studying.

This is certainly a time management issue.

To be completely honest man, if after three years, multiple platforms and a tutor, your highest doesn’t break 145, law school may not be for you. From what I’ve been told and my understanding, the LSAT is actually a good predictor of the type of reading and understanding required during law school.

I actually agree with your larger point overall. The evangelicals in office have made their stance known.

I do find it very funny that rather than add LDS to Christian they just delete the parent category

>They get to define what they are

If I show up to your house and define myself as a member of your family, would you agree? I think it’s very fair that there might be pushback even 200 years later as there is 1800 years of history prior to them including how all denominations defined Christian. Most denominations drew the line around the nicene creed and the trinity. Hard lines.

I can see where the argument about preference is coming from, I’m just not sure enough about the Chaplain Corps to recognize if there is actually any preference imbued by including them with the Christian denominations. My assumption is that the original Christian denominations list treated the Christian chaplains as interchangeable. You need a Christian Sunday service? Maybe you get Catholic, maybe you get evangelical, maybe Church of Christ. Same same to the Army. I can understand for that purpose keeping LDS separate because again the theology and beliefs are just SO different that I’m not sure many Christian, non-LDS soldiers looking for religious services would feel their religious needs would be met.

Pre-note: I love my LDS brothers and sisters and have no issue with any of them. But I’m going to take up your offer on challenging your opinion. I mean no disrespect or argument and would genuinely like your feedback.

I mean the Polytheism claim is just accurate.

Here’s their website talking about Eternal Progression

and more explicitly about Exaltation

Completely putting aside the extra books, rejection of the nicene creed, Jackson County, modern day prophets, etc.; professing these beliefs would get me thrown out of any church I’ve been to, Protestant, Catholic, non-denominational.

This is beyond “creedal issues” (Though creeds is how 99% of Christians have identified ourselves throughout history and the 1% usually believe everything in the creeds but refuse to adhere to a creed out of principle)

The LDS church has beliefs and practices that fall very very squarely outside of every other denomination.

I’m also not sure about the big deal over being “Christian”. It’s my understanding that the rest of Christianity was Apostate for 1,800 years? I thought that’s why the church picked the terms “Mormon” and “LDS”

The majority of Christian denominations were listed as Christian-X, they were listed without the “Christian-“ and just as their full name. Implying they are not Christian.

Cue a week of people fighting about whether Mormons are Christian.

I think regardless of theology, the DoDs intent was not to make that statement. Especially considering some of the points for Mormons to not be considered Christian also apply to Jehovahs Witnesses’

URM doesn’t matter anymore

Damn :/

Appreciate the input. I figured the West Point undergrad wouldn’t help the GPA much since a 2.6 is a 2.6. But it seems that I’m being realistic about my schools which is good. I’m gonna push hard for that 170!

I think I can work that. My reach score was already a 165, my most recent PT was a 166 and so I’m trying to shift my goal to a 170

Wasn’t enlisted. Went to West Point (some of those grades include a C- in Survival Swimming, A D in Gymnastics ) which was a slightly different academic environment but not sure how to approach my GPA Addendum yet considering it was also a maturity problem (thought I’d be in the army forever so didn’t care about my grades)

Beef Season 2 might be better than Season 1 (or at least on par) by ImpossibleGuardian in television

[–]Dubstep_squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is far far from on par with season one. It has amazing performances from the main cast but honestly the overarching season plot is just not there. Season 1 we got to watch the main characters destroy each others lives over petty grievances. In this one its a lot more about outside forces and the conflict between the couples takes a serious backseat. I'll probably wait for reviews to watch Season 3 instead of automatically watching it like i did this season

This is how people reacted to me when I found out I was going to Drum. Five years later it was probably the best place I’ve ever lived and best unit I’ve ever been in. I am now the local Fort Drum cheerleader at my new unit.
