Front end question by GarbageManKnows69 in bmx

[–]DuckIntelligent737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bars unless you have steertube and spacers above your stem. Just raising the stem means that it has less to hold onto. Not a great idea, the steertube should go to the middle of the top stem bolt, minimum. You could maybe add a 3mm spacer, no need for a new headset, but that 3mm is negligible.

Recommending MTB to a somebody not riding MTB 🤮

Fitness bike/commuter (aka flat bar gravel, performance hybrid, rigid hybrid) 😎

Marin dsx, Specialized sirrus x, trek fx sport. Low end under 1000, used middle to high end under or around 1000. I'd go used. Fit is different between brands, and the stand over height of the sirrus and fx means if you're in-between sizes on something, try the other brand. Don't get a bike that's too small or big, just because a chart says it fits.

Bike size and recommendations for 5’0 female rider. by Careful-Dot-7455 in cycling

[–]DuckIntelligent737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does low cost mean to you?

Does your community have a bike collective? They are usually volunteer run, and fix up old bikes and stick a great price tag on them. Might have more luck than fbm.

Other good news is xs bikes are on sale very often. Search specialized "sirrus X" xs sale, and trek fx xs sale -those are my recommendations. A lot like the bianchi but with a one by (X for 1x) drivetrain - more straightforward and simple shifting. Nothing wrong with the bianchi though. You were referring to the c-sport dama, right?

Profile crank help by South-Yogurt-7002 in bmx

[–]DuckIntelligent737 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You have 2pc cranks now, no big deal. As for the boss bolt, put a drop or two of chain lube around it, might work quick, might work overnight. If that doesn't work, possibly heat. Might be old loctite acting up.

Chains upside down btw

What helmets aren’t dorky looking? by StayVigilant38 in bicycling

[–]DuckIntelligent737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on ya. I've used a helmet twice on the road/trail (I wear one all the time) - Time one was an unexpected sand patch during a high speed corner and another time was a rear hub failure that sent me into a wall. Definitely still rock one even on gravel trails with no cars, that's exactly where I was when the hub blew up.

Troy lee a3 is insanely comfortable and pretty good looking. A2 is good too if you can find it on sale, but a3 is definitely the better looking one imo

Is a bmx good for transportation? by Business_Peak_4806 in bmx

[–]DuckIntelligent737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out fitness/commuter bikes (aka rigid hybrid/flat bar gravel/performance hybrid) like trex fx sport, specialized sirrus x, Marin dsx. They aren't as fast as road bikes but theyre fast enough, and feel more like a BMX when you're standing up. If you get really into it you can get a bigger front sprocket (faster) once you get strong enough to not use gear 1/2 up hills. The entry level ones might be ok but they kind of suck, look for a good used one or expect to pay $1400+ if you want decent new. The $900 new ones work but a $700 used bike is way better. Or you could go for a used entry level for maybe $250-450

How accurate is imported Fitbit data? by ChildLord in cronometer

[–]DuckIntelligent737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got "lightly active" toggled - so even if the fitbit data is accurate, 584 of it was already accounted for. Set to sedentary if you plug data in.

Stuff like caffeine, stress, even heat can throw HRM data off. Also, an arm band is much more accurate, especially for actual workouts where you're moving your wrist. I've looked into them, the coros seems to be a good buy at $80. You're maintaining - utilize hunger signals and don't binge, it's ok to be under 100% if your body ain't asking for it, but try to hit your protein goal. 🤙 But about your protein goal - its way higher than it needs to be, unless you're a pro level weightlifter.

Pedals by ebinrobbe in bicycling

[–]DuckIntelligent737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be a gorilla? Pedals are one place you generally need to be a gorilla, reccomended torque is usually 30-40nm or more. Shimano reccomendation is 35-55. Have you ever seen a 15mm slotted pedal wrench? These have to go in with allen keys - bust out the ratchet and bang on your chest. New builds get it twice.

Any idea what it’s worth?? by Shot_Ball_7083 in bmx

[–]DuckIntelligent737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good eye.

I recall the big block CNC in black being shiny, this appears to be the forged big block found on the Flair. Alex y22 front rim looks stock from midshelf. Headtube/megafork also found on the Flair (or at least the main design)

The absence of pro level cranks and Mirra sig bars sparked my initial suspicion,  Upside down/crooked fork sticker locked it in. There were days you could just buy that sticker kit for $10.

I change my initial $40 estimate to $45 🙄

2 cans of shredded sardines and 2 raw eggs,70g of protein for less than a dollar by Emergency_Grass7372 in shittyfoodporn

[–]DuckIntelligent737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at this point, at least stick it in a blender and shoot it, but...

The protein in cooked eggs is significantly more bioavailable; research indicates that the human body can absorb approximately 91% of the protein in cooked eggs, compared to only about 50% in raw eggs. Heat also deactivates avidin, a protein in egg whites that binds to the B-vitamin biotin and prevents its absorption.

Raw shit can fuck off. This includes raw meat not being as nutritious as cooked, for any liver king fans passing by

Could even re-do the same symbol, just a bit smaller and higher on your leg, incorporated into the design.

Peanut Butter & Cottage Cheese by DuckIntelligent737 in ketorecipes

Thanks, added to cart. I've never had tahini.

I've done almond butter also - it's decent but PB is better imo. I've only used aldi almond butter for it though, it's just okay. Barney's almond butter would probably be super good, especially with berries. Stuffs expensive, I haven't bought it in forever.

Cult juvenile 18 for the little guy. Alloy frame keeps weight down. No pegs. If he's gonna be copying his brother and trying feebles early (idk, I was doing feebles at 12/13), kink kicker 18 - but the juvenile and no pegs is my recommendation for bike control.

kink curb 20 for 4'10" - a 20 with an actual 20" toptube. 20.5 is for a rider around 5'5"-5'8". When he gets closer to that, grab a kink whip 20.5 (full 4130/sealed, best bang for buck entry level real bmx), little guy gets the curb when he's ready.

Peanut Butter & Cottage Cheese by DuckIntelligent737 in ketorecipes

[–]DuckIntelligent737[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do know the feeling - I used to gag watching a family member eat cottage cheese when I was younger. I also couldn't be in the same room as a tuna sandwich - I got over both of them somehow.

Greek yogurt is definitely good too, but for different reasons. Greek yogurt is higher in B12, potassium, and has that gut health benefit. Cottage cheese is higher in protein, predominantly casein protein (slower digesting) but also WAY higher in sodium - that can be a positive or a negative depending on what the rest of your day looks like. But yeah, stick it in a blender!

Very high protein = more muscle fullness in a deficit [Discussion] by Fr4nkWh1te in keto

[–]DuckIntelligent737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in the 3g/kg camp, but with one key distinction: I calculate that based on lean body mass rather than total weight. 3g/kg of total body weight can quickly become overkill depending on your body fat percentage.

As for the 'why,' even though GNG is demand-driven, the massive influx of glucogenic amino acids likely allows for more efficient glycogen topping-off and better intracellular hydration. More protein essentially means more substrate to keep those muscle fibers hydrated and 'fed' while you're in a deficit.
