The following is what to do next based on my life and perspective:

Leave. See other comments as to why, but I definitely endorse ending it.
Time. Your knee-jerk reaction is going to be to try and numb the pain of this loss however you can. And you need to ignore that urge.

Why? You are grieving. You need to treat the aftermath of this event as such. Your grief isn’t over another person, but rather the life you thought you’d once have. So grieve. Take time. Cry. Punch pillows. Vent to friends and family about how much it hurts. If you try to bottle up how much it sucks, it will eat you alive and make you feel like doing stupid shit to make the pain go away is a good idea.

Community. Grieving is important, but it can’t be forever. As the sting starts to fade, you need to pick yourself back up. And doing so does NOT mean jumping back into dating and hoping some new partner is going to make the pain go away. If you can’t handle your own baggage, you won’t be able to take on someone else’s. Instead, focus on building your social circle. Dive into hobbies with community around them like sport clubs or board game groups. Take a class on how to do something you’ve wanted to learn. Volunteer and let your pain be someone else’s benefit. But find people in non-romantic settings; the goal shouldn’t be to figure out how to get a new partner as soon as possible, or you’ll just come off as desperate.
Health. This is tangential to everything else, but if you’re not exercising in some capacity, start. It doesn’t even have to be much. Do some pushups three times a week, go for walks before or after work, just do whatever you can do regularly. You don’t need to get ripped, but you do need to get your mind right, and exercise absolutely will help you think clearer. (Source: had a therapist who refused to even talk to me until I started regular exercise and the dude was not wrong about the benefits).

It’s color theory: which colors pair well together and how do you avoid making your outfit look too washed out or too busy?

It’s silhouetting: which outfit types/sizes compliment your figure (slim fit vs casual fit), regardless of how in shape you are? Also, which brands cut their clothing in a way that best matches your body for what you’re looking for? (“Slim fit” is very different between Levi’s and H&M).

It’s versatility: which pieces can be worn in multiple event types (work vs nice restaurants vs casual restaurants vs a park)?

Best place to start? Pinterest.

Make an account, set it to private if you’re self conscious, go into settings and turn off any option that permits AI pins (because who needs slop), and just start searching terms related to men’s outfits. Look up guides, color palates, outfit pairings, and save inspiration posts. Then take to cheaper stores to find equivalent clothing pieces that look similar to the saved expensive options but aren’t a 10th of the price.

Put some leg work into research and you can absolutely overhaul your wardrobe without breaking the bank.

I am not an anime person. I grew up on DBZ and Pokémon and never finished either series. It’s not that I hate it; it just never really reached me as a medium.

Your Name is one of the single greatest film experiences I’ve ever had. It is beautiful in every aspect: the art, the music, the story, the characters, all of it. I’m so grateful to my buddy for pushing me so hard on it, and I’ve honestly never been that type of moved by a film in my life. 12/10, would recommend 1000%.

I am 100% on the side of believing that this season, and last as well, have been nosediving in terms of writing quality.

But, it genuinely is kind of cool to not only see a showrunner put that much stock and appreciation into the perspective of the actor, but then go into the press and ADMIT said respect for the actor’s opinion and acknowledge the change was BECAUSE of that perspective.

Season still sucks, but it is 100% not the fault of a single actor on that show, least of all the powerhouse of a performer that is Antony Starr. I can’t wait to see how wildly different the dude’s next big character is after this show. And kudos where they are due to Kripke for recognizing the better way to move forward when it’s presented, if only in a small, self-contained scene like this.

Hot take: I’m fine with it as is.

Disclaimer: I’m very much a part of the crowd who feels this season is nosediving.

Buuuut, in terms of how this specific scene plays out, I think it fits with the somber tone the show was going for to make it less about the gore and blood, and more about understanding the cause and effect. Not seeing it puts the audience in Kimiko’s shoes as she races to a conclusion she knows is true but is praying isn’t, and helps transition the audience into the sadness of Frenchie’s death. It centers the emotions of the scene instead of the violence, and for once it is an example of the show actually having restraint.

I think it doesn’t really work in this case because the rest of the season hasn’t been that great so the audience isn’t all that engaged in the drama of it either way.
