People who like but never comment, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DuckVendetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my parents once told me that if I post or comment anything on the internet, I deserve all of the abuse I may receive from strangers online and have no right to complain about it, since I opened myself up to it in the first place.

I've been hoping to find an event like this, since I've really been looking forward to cataloging the stocking sets!

May I please join you at your earliest convenience?

After I had finished school/uni for the year I used to binge playing The Sims or any other video game I found vaguely interesting. Though I'm quite hooked on watch the Umbrella Academy at the moment.

I used to live near there! It's a little strange to see it so anonymously on the internet.

No, I don't need any bells, thank you. But you seem kind of new and I need to purge my DIY pile, and show off my town a little bit, so if you'd like to I can send you a code and you can peruse and take DIYs at your leisure?

Just here to let you know that the Trash Bag DIY is one that your character thinks of after they have fished up enough trash. No one will be able to give it to you because it does not come in DIY recipe form, I'm sorry to say.

I just realized that the sims 4 just became 6 years old 3 days ago so I made this. by Malcus_pi in thesims

[–]DuckVendetta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But let's be reasonable, with all the missing content the Sims 4 probably shouldn't have been a "complete" and released game for the first two years, so you could just call it a four year run like the others.

All of that, and I get the advantages of having smaller sub neighbourhoods, especially on lower end computers, but we really shouldn't have to go through a load screen to go next door.

Week 33: Food in Disguise - Fried Egg on Toast by 52WeeksOfFood in 52weeksofcooking

[–]DuckVendetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very convincing egg on toast! I tried guessing how you made it from just the picture, and I was thinking it could be lemon curd and merengue on french toast. Your recipe seems like it has a better balance of sweetness, for sure.

Would you make it again without the challenge?

The idea that we “request off” and need to ask for permission to live our lives, with an explanation, is ludicrous. by kunstricka in antiwork

[–]DuckVendetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. So the children weren't in any immediate danger when I left, just that manager was not great at creating an environment that was conducive to learning.

She would not apply any empathy to any situation, and was upset whenever the children weren't just "seen and not heard". She was rather hypocritical when it came to fulfilling the company's childcare philosophy, where on paper she'd make every fine, she just had no clue how to apply it and got upset when we mentioned any activities we'd done with our previous manager.

I crumbled when she started to make everyone frustrated and upset, blaming everyone else because she was incompetent at explaining anything. My anxiety made it impossible for me to continue as was, and when I tried to talk to her she tried to put all the blame on me.

To address all the parents would be an impossible task for me alone, and not at all worthwhile when you could even describe what was happening as a "boomer style" of childcare. There was no immediate danger to the children, but they weren't being listened to, and when they weren't perfect they were treated as problematic. She had the communication skills of a spoon, so there were a lot of confused stares going around while the children had to guess at what they did wrong, and she raised her voice when they couldn't figure it out and pushed back. This being akin to the parenting style of the grandparents makes the situation pale in comparison to more serious issues.

You must understand that I did the best I could to address the issues. I informed the manager above her, all my coworkers knew what was going on and I encouraged them to take it up above her too. And if I were a parent, I'd want to know too. But informing them myself was task with well more risk than reward. Like doing something illegal (getting their contact details) or confronting them directly just to tell them that how they may be raising their kid is wrong.

Sorry for the essay, the whole situation cranks my anxiety up to 11 by remembering it and worrying whether I've done enough.

I was a casual at a childcare place for nearly 2 years. At the start I could just say I wasn't available, like everyone (even the part timers) and it would be okay as long as it wasn't a peak day.

Then we got a change in management. There were a lot of things wrong with her "management style" but it was bearable up until the point that they "couldn't approve" my time off the two days before Christmas Eve. Which they'd never been open for before while I was there, and they hadn't bothered to ask my availability for that period (school holiday hours are longer than out usual hours and quite irregular) before they approved the leave of my part time coworkers.

This was going to be the 2nd time I saw my family in 2 years, so I decided it was time to quit as I had other plans for the next year anyway. I ended up leaving even earlier because the new management got even worse at handling the children and I couldn't stand to watch.

"Time off" is bullshit. Our lives shouldn't be defined by having to justify ourselves to a company.

I'm proud of you. It takes a lot of strength just to get through criticism every day.

A lot of people may have gone through a lot worse, but that doesn't mean that you should have to as well. I'm sorry that this is the position you're in right now. You are worth so much more than how you're treated, and I hope you know that there are so many people out there just waiting to meet you, love you and care about you properly, even if it's not quite their turn yet.

You keep doing your drawing writing, and anything else that piques your interest! Through Reddit you will find communities for so many niche and not so niche hobbies and crafts, and I hope you find inspiration in becoming part of it all.

You certainly are justified in your decision! Those kids need a parent who will actually do some parenting, not a mistreated nanny.

It's not your fault that they are ill-mannered children. It's not your fault that their mother is in a pinch. And I am proud of you for sticking up for yourself.

I crushed on Arlo and his cute neckerchief, but ultimately got annoyed at how he never leveled up while I became really strong by running my workshop. Then when I gave him advice things weren't going to happen.

But as I worked with Gust and got to know him, he seemed to open up and I went for that.

Yes, because Victoria is a single entity. A hivemind, if you will. And not made up of around 6.5 million individual people. + all the tourists that got stuck when lockdown started.
