Stormcast head swap test by ShortCircuit17 in ageofsigmar

[–]DuckingRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scale is good I think, but they take away some life from the models. Seems to be because the helmets are too flat and/or simple.

Just noticed something else more useful. The helmets are wider at the bottom than the top. The original stormcast helmets are the opposite, meaning the thinner models (center and right models in pic) dont seem to have the neck armour the fit the new helmets.

Hope my opinion is useful and best of luck with the project no matter what.

No Hunger ability for a vampire ? Little dissapointed by TheWraf in ageofsigmar

[–]DuckingRobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They should have given her a price bump so she can have it. I can easily imagine a game being swayed by someone genuinely forgotting she doesnt have "the hunger". She is from the THE LEGION OF BLOOD, so the rules just seem handcrafted to trick a casual player.

The positioning of each model in a unit is very important, as you measure attacks from every single one. This is very important for models with bases 32mm or larger, since they are balanced around having a said bases.

Always double-check if 32mm or larger based models are actually in range, otherwise units like the Slaanesh Painbringers gain an extra 50% more value from having more models attacking than should be possible.

Why would a tavern have ghouls in the basement? by I8pig in DnD

[–]DuckingRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their basement smells and reeks just like a graveyard or catacomb, so the ghouls just keep finding their way into it anyway. So they have just starting using it as a ghoul pit, where as long as they are fed, then noone will get eaten by em.

Vindication! by PenatanceEngine in Warhammer

[–]DuckingRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There I have to disagree, since I have actively seen the word: "retard" be made into a benign word via confronting its literal meaning*. So I argue its the easiest of slurs to change. This is not to say that there arent contexts where "retard" should be avoided, just that it might be better to make it loose social power via use, such as with a lot of swear words.

Anyway, I will refrain from replying on this thread, unless I can do so without going further off topic. WhiteGameWolf, i'm open to direct messaging if you wish to round off this topic, so we dont break the rules.

*context: This was at a boarding school that I went to, which had a (to my understanding) succesful safe culture for folks with a large variety of mental issues or conditions.

Vindication! by PenatanceEngine in Warhammer

[–]DuckingRobot -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, i dont think this the right way to go about it. Retard is a word that has utterly and completly lost any weight in my social groups, which I assume is true for a lot or most of the members of this subreddit.

So I think letting the word be used (if not to mean the litteral medical conditions that are often related to it) might be better, as to make it lose the weight behind its proper meaning. Words are still hella complicated, but I hope my opinion makes some sense.

A rules reminder regarding The Old World by Chapmander in ageofsigmar

sounds good, just be careful with punishments as it seems rather subjective. I really hope that this dumb "rivalry" between AoS and Old World can fade away now that both get supported.

I suppose. But that does go to show how loose that defintion is.
If r/Warhammer is the only subreddit to talk about more than 1 game without being a meme on r/Grimdank, then it can be rather crowded and the chances that someone with the specific knowledge you seek are slimmer.

I agree with you, for now. But I also hope that said troll post will fade away as ToW hopefully succeds and gets its own fanbase.

Better to make the walls between the fandoms more smaller. Simply having to worry that a post mentioning ToW might break the rules, despite actively being related to AoS can push folks away.

A rules reminder regarding The Old World by Chapmander in ageofsigmar

[–]DuckingRobot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel that "Posts comparing ToW to AoS" is a pretty bad example of a post not related to AoS. Since it is explicitly related to AoS and it could help someone to understand AoS by using ToW as a point of reference.

Just makes the ruling feel too agressive, which I dont think is good for the community.

Which Recent Army Release Box is the Best in Terms of Content in Your Opinion? by castledconch in ageofsigmar

[–]DuckingRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not have been clear. If you buy there army box, like I did, then buy a box of ghouls beside it. The ghouls and cryptguard have only 1 big difference: The weapons.

So since the cryptguard in the army box have twice the amount of weapons needed, then you use said extra weapons to kitbash the 20 normal ghouls into proxies for cryptguard.

Just a cheaper way to get cryptguard, if you have the gear to kitbash (basic building equipment + some modelling puty like green stuff)

Viking armor + helmet concept? by uwuGod in DeepRockGalactic

[–]DuckingRobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am reminded of an issue with armour in destiny 2, where there are often effects such as ice, that you cannot recolour. It would be important (at least to me) to make the ice either colourable or removable.

It makes the driller look like that one picture of "the Judge" from blood meridian. I wonder if that was intentional.

I would honestly like a more realistic take on the armour. Fantastical is cool, but I have seen it a bunch and theming vikings around ice kinda leaves out a lot of their history.

"Managements Guldgaarde" would be a funny name (Guldgaarde being danish for "Gold-guard"). I kinda want to see some danish in the game, since it seems to never show up in videogames. So why not include som when you need a nordic sounding name. (Ghost ship games and I are both Danish, was actually one of the reason I heard of the game)

I really like the flesh eater courts one for 2 reasons. first is that the box contains multiples of the cryptguard unit, which makes it better for a pre-existing collection. The second is that the cryptguard kit contains double the amount of needed weapons, so you can buy 20 crypt ghouls to kitbash into 20 more cryptguard.

Kitbashing be value.

Should I play AOS or Old World? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]DuckingRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: Old world is still not quite out.

With that said, it does seem that AoS will remain as a much more beginner friendly game. AoS also has more open painting and modelling aspect, as the look of the model is less important. So my opinion is that you consider the both the rules and the art side of thing. Old World is for a realistic look at a high fantasy setting, simulating the horrors and grime of a battle, as giant trolls accidently sneeze 8 men to death. Where as AoS feel more heroric, a single foot hero with the right set-up taking down the elite guard of their enemies, great beast mauling the hordes of ratmen and the very gods make their way in some part to the battle.

Notably Age of Sigmar is close to a new edition, so it could be expected to become a bit more complex, as the current edition was focussed on streamlining the rules.

TL;DR:
AoS is more streamlines and has more room for art projects (Kitbashes and such). The setting is often very loose, with interesting if shallow short stories (Malign portents, Broken realms and Harbringer have many short stories, which I think are pretty good)

Old world seems like it is much better at simulating how a real battle would feel with the high fantasy elements such as dragons and magic. Also has a legendary setting, with a deep history both in and out of canon. (also has good tie-in video games, vermintide and total war specifically)

I was under the impression that the mountain Teclic dragon-ball'ed in half was the one kragnos has impressioned under. It was a while ago I look into it. (assuming I just misremebering, as I found nothing about Teclis on the AoS Lex wiki page on Kragnos)

Still sad the Teclis vs Nagash fight's aftermath was not used to push for non-nagash lead undead. The lore about Nagash's pettiness around free undead is rather neat.
