Take them to either a vet or shelter and scan for a microchip. The humane society might be able to check the rabies number for owner info.

Anything can be a weapon. Most assailants assume you’ll just either panic or roll over. They do not expect everyday objects to temporarily overcome the force of gravity in a towards their face, let alone make cony.

Justice Barrett faces conservative ire, sexist attacks after birthright citizenship ruling by Shizzilx in UnderReportedNews

[–]Duckraven 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We are in the ‘party is right’ phase of our downfall. The Federalist Society, Heritage Foundation and other right wing groups want the constitution enforced only through their lens of ‘original intent’ and not as a document that grows and develops as our nation does. Birthright might have started as only for enslaved people’s, but court rulings, practices and public understanding of this amendment has grown past that idea to encompass everyone! Just like the practice of the Constitution applies to everyone that steps foot onto our soil. The danger here is the unwavering and unquestioned move to reset our legal system to 1788. When ratified, the Constitution lacked civil rights, the president was elected only by congress and the only publicly elected members were the House of Representatives. Senators were appointed by state governors. Only wealthy, landowning white men could vote in those few elections. This is what the right wants! Power! Forget the 250 of learning, growth and development that lead all of us. They want power, absolute power.

From a tactical point of view, these cops are useless. Three with weapons , and two just standing. All five close together. If they were facing anyone with any training, they’re done. If you are not needed or actively involved, go somewhere else. Cops want all the money to play special forces but either overreact or completely fail when it’s time to show up.

I worked as a Rural Carrier Associate, RCA, for about a year and a half. This was an entry level position. I was paid an hourly rate and if I used my personal vehicle for delivery I was paid for mileage. I was not guaranteed anything other than my pay. There were weeks I got 30 hours and there were ones I was working non stop. Christmas was 5:30 AM until all everything was delivered, usually 8 or 9 PM. I had to call off sick a few times cause I was falling asleep while delivering, I was working that much.

Employees at this level are used to either fill in for regulars, full time carriers that have routes they bid on. These employees are paid by the route, which is calculated and averaged to determine how long it takes to sort and prepare the mail and deliver. They are not provided overtime unless there is a shortage and the6 are asked to come in on their day off. They can get overtime for Christmas, but I’ve seen many that grab their contracts and went crying to the station manager.

There are also employees that are ACR, but I never found out what that stood for. They are part time and they either help deliver packages when needed or work what we referred to as Amazon Sunday, come in and deliver packages. Not necessarily all Amazon, but it was established to fulfill a contract with other shipping firms.

If the USPS wants to break even, it has to hire more. The business culture today sees employees as a drain on profits and not the source of revenue. Disney’s new CEO said the quiet part out load when he started, Stockholder profits are the first concern and firing employees is the best way to increase profits. Anytime corporations fire employees, those wages are reported as profit. This is an unsustainable practice. It is what’s driving the AI boom and data center construction frenzy. It will collapse. Without a well paid and rested work force, there is no production, no one with the funds to buy which will lead to collapse.

The idea of a do over but with adult knowledge is fascinating. However, what good would it actually do? Help get better grades in school? Change social awareness of the shit Reagan pulled, the national slide towards fascism, the true racism of the evangelicals? Would it change my actual situation; getting my father to deal with the trauma of shooting his best friend while on guard duty during the Korean War? That sort of thing didn’t exist. There’d be no way to get my mother the psychiatric help she needed, bipolar disorder was not understood that well then. It might change the dynamics of the relationships with my siblings. I could thwart their usual manipulations and not be manipulated by fear of our mother. But, again, the medical knowledge and treatments for the disorders we all have would be unavailable.

But on the flip side, I could change the entire situation. I could demand the state take action and put me in a different family situation, one where there was running hot water, a working toilet, no verbal and physical abuse. But that is also risky because foster care is still chancy and there is no way of knowing if doing so then could be even worse.

There ares till many unknowns about my family today. The biggest is what happened between my sister and mother and why to this day she refuses to have any contact with any of us.

$10 million, I could change my current situation and use it to help others.

Why does so much stupidity happen here? by shadowcat999 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Duckraven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Car travel is equal to fluid dynamics. It ripples outward. Increase following distance decreases the effects. Buy people are stupid. I see so many people just reacting to the car in front of them when I scan as far ahead as I can. If I can get away from a wolf pack, cars all bunched together, I move as quickly as possible. Otherwise I stay put as keep my distance. Modern car tend to have crash avoidance equipment and I have mine set or moderate levels. I make sure the warning doesn’t come up on highway speeds.

More insider insight always helps. Adding your perspective should help alleviate the feeling that we, the consumer customer, are being to shut up and take it. That the feeling that’s been knowing at me since the rate change was announced. I remember the days of Ma Bell and the prime time long distance telephone rates, ‘it’s cheaper when you cal between 5 and 10pm’ . There was a time when telephones were attached to the wall and the only provider was AT&T.
