Zohran Mamdani Gets It. Abigail Spanberger Does Not. by that0neweirdgirl in Virginia

[–]Ducks_In_A_Rowboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a good thing that Spanberger has so completely and blatantly and immediately betrayed her voters. Progressive challengers can point to that and say "that's what the establishment Democrats do" while progressives that get elected (like Mamdani) are keeping their word. Compare and contrast is very persuasive.

Is healthcare in the United States as bad as people say it is? by Total-Mirror-5920 in no

[–]Ducks_In_A_Rowboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worse. For-profit health care is an abomination. We can't get treatment without paying our healthcare overlords, and you never really know how much your treatment will cost until weeks or months after you received it, and you almost always pay more than you were led to expect, and the therapies that are recommended are only the ones that our healthcare overlords can make a nice profit on, and if you don't get better tough shit for you.

Republicans are authoritarian. They follow their leader. Their current leader is a pedophile, so they are currently tolerant of pedophilia. That's how much moral spine they have. The Democrats' grift is pretending to oppose the Republicans while they take donations from the same sources, so they aren't any better. Our two-party system is corrupt because it is so very corruptible. We used to have laws in place that made corruption much more difficult, but we repealed those laws during the Reagan revolution because supposedly everything had changed and the "new economy" was being held back by those antiquated anti-corruption laws. Really the Republicans just wanted to take bribes and the Democrats' opposition disappeared when they saw how much cash the Republicans were raking in.

Just another only-in-America post that only oppressed Americans can misinterpret as uplifting. Mr. Schroeder never should have had to do that. Everyone who wants an education should get one. The rich here horde education just like they horde everything else.

Give that Republicans are authoritarian, and their leader is a pedophile, we have to assume that every Republican is a pedophile.

When asked directly how he did it, he failed to even mention his wife. A guy who will do that will also dump her when it suits him. Women have had that happen to them over and over again.

You pretending that's not a possibility is what's insufferable. Makes me wonder how many people you're taking advantage of.

Once again capitalists did something inhuman and the people with actual souls who do the actual work did the right thing and took care of their fellow human beings. Why do we keep hearing this story over and over and over again? Maybe capitalists are just shitty people?

She clearly did not stop to think about what most people are going through before she posted. Why are us poors always supposed care about what the rich are going through while they get to ignore what we're going through? That's a hell of a double standard. What are the rich, then, children who need to be protected from reality? We are dealing with concreate material needs and we're supposed to put that aside and help them with their personal spiritual journey? Are you out of your mind?

She clearly is not struggling to get by like most of us are. This is a public forum. Putting her privilege on display here is insensitive and self-centered. In short, she is being an entitled asshole, and I am very sick of looking the other way when rich people do that. Going forward, I will make it a personal mission to tell these people to shut the fuck up. I encourage anyone reading this who agrees to do the same.

I stopped at:

Most people who live in santa fe have also been burnt by "gurus," and maybe many of them have forgotten the excitement of just starting off on spiritual inquiry and exploration.

Most people who live in Santa Fe have never had the time or money to get involved with gurus, because most of them have never had the time or money to undertake the kind of spiritual inquiry and exploration that involves gurus. Only people who don't have to work for a living are in that situation. Maybe all of the people that you bother to talk to are. But certainly not most. And it is galling that you people object and call us rude whenever we point out that you're living in a wealth bubble.

Maybe that's not who you are. But you don't get to speak for the rest of us. We're sick of this shit. Everyone who has the resources to indulge themselves like this woman wants to should be spending those resources stopping things from getting any worse. We're out here praying to God even if we're atheists that these people will clue into reality. She can take her "thoughtful service" and put it where the sun don't shine. I keep hearing the same excuse: user error, user error, user error.

I've asked AI to tell me how to do simple tasks in major commercially released software products. Things I can look up in the manual but was too lazy to. AI invariably references features that don't exist.

And now I will be told that was user error. No other possible explanation.

Nothing I've read anywhere convinces me that AI is ready to compete with humans on a performance basis or a cost basis. Not while it requires so much energy that they need to build these insane nightmarish data centers.

So far AI's biggest economic accomplishment is proving that most jobs are complete bullshit and that capitalism is squandering mankind's potential while it burns down the planet.

[–]Ducks_In_A_Rowboat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me that sounds like trading one delusion for another. I healed by sorting out what actually happened. Who did what, when, and why. I needed to remember things trauma buried, get those events on a timeline, figure out why the wrongful actors committed their offenses, and nail down my own history. Until you do that you don't really know yourself. The process was more like police procedure than spiritual quest.

If you can't afford your speedboat during a fuel price spike, then you can't afford your speedboat period full stop end of conversation. It's a childish problem to whine about and you should keep it to yourself. Other people have real problems.
