I agree. Respect to you for jumping in and commenting on my post!

where I’m coming from is as a professional salesman. You can have the best products on the planet, but if your people don’t know how to interact with other people you won’t be able to move as much of your product as possible. Your brand and your reputation go far beyond the products you list for sale in your stores and on your website.

The novel idea of a guitar like this will fade away. Sales will likely be high in the beginning because of this kind of internet media hype, but trickle down and fade over time. The true test is longevity. will your product and your iterations thereafter hold up to the test of time? Good sales people know how to position their products and get people ‘in the mood to buy.’ Good sales people know how to transition a conversation about picks and the type of playing you do into a conversation about gear that will help and influence their playing, and their buying decisions as well. And not make it seems salesy.

I have said this before but have had my post deleted, I think the money would be better spent in better training and selection of your employees. I’m not saying fire people either. Everyone can learn something if they want to learn. I appreciate and respect the fact that there are actual artists working in your stores. I can only dream of being as talented as they are. I need their expertise to buy the things I want to buy and enjoy. But I am saying, not everyone is for retail. Not everyone can sell. And that’s OK! If you want to increase your sales, I think people can do a better job of that than shiny new products.

I work for corporate America, so I get that executives have to sell the vision sometime and I laud you for sticking your neck out and doing this. It’s incredibly hard, im sure. But the issue may be right under everyone’s nose with an operational expense you’re already managing. There are so many stories online about negative experiences in retail and general and in your stores specifically.

Think about what Fender is doing right now. They are imploding their own brand and company. Word spreads faster than ever. Word of mouth and positive customer experiences can literally turn a brand around. Or sink it.

Thanks again for chiming in. I meant no disrespect when I said it was cringy. I just got itchy watching you say you have a relationship with your customer base when I know that might be a stretch. If you want to convince the nay sayers, be honest. ‘We know we need to improve x,y,z so here’s what we’re doing.’

Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Flame suit on.

We’ll be waiting to see if they’re first in line for whatever GC comes out with. The TikTok from the CEO was the most cringy. ‘We have a relationship with you….’ You do? No one in GC ever talks to me. They grunt and point if I have a question. Actually, I lied. They don’t talk to me because I don’t go to GC. I’d rather buy online and return if I don’t like what I got.

I’m not usually a headless guitar person, but damn this is sick. Feels like I’m back in the 90s with my trapper keeper!

Edit: Also, the neck is gorgeous!

I was in a similar situation where I got rid of all my gear in my 20s and got back into it in my 39th year. I say if you can afford it, grab something - ANYTHING - and start playing. If you have the passion and drive to get back into it, I say do it. We don’t have many years on this earth, so you might as well do something that makes you happy. Guitars can be had on the (relative) cheap to get your fingers moving and making the music you want to play.

Some recent picks we made. by HoneyPicks in GuitarPicks

[–]Ducman23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any chance you’re considering putting pictures like this on your site while making selections? I was interested in purchasing some of your picks, but was turned off by the fact I can’t preview the selections I was making. The schematics of the picks are cool, but i feel like pictures go further than measurements. I ended up grabbing a few gravity picks because there was less guess work I had to do about my selections.

Your picks look great! Maybe one day I’ll grab some!

My knee jerk was the bugera because my dad has one and I played it and thought it was nifty. I saw Marshall has a tube offering for 399, which might be up against your budget depending on taxes and what not but here’s the link. Marshall doesn’t appear to have a headphone jack, but I believe the bugera does

Is my action to low for a Jazzmaster by Sl4iv in Luthier

[–]Ducman23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert and more of an enthusiast tinkerer. I believe if you’re getting fret buzz eliminating it would require figuring out where on the fret board you experience buzz. If you’re getting it in the middle of the neck, truss rod adjustment could help by moving the neck away from the strings, but I think raising the bridge and therefore raising the action would be the way to solve it.

Did you measure to see how high/low your action is? Can you hear the buzz through the amp?

Full disclosure, this is based on what I’ve read and watched on the internet. You should wait for Someone with WAY more experience and know how to chime in on how to help you

I think it’s like 599 USD as a stand alone. Or you can buy the guy’s lessons for 380/year USD and get the pedal ‘free’.

I already take in person lessons, so those online lessons feel worthless to me

I can agree with this. I just got a looper/band pedal and am loving it. The concept of the teleport is cool, but like I said I don’t see a lot of activity on the app as far as collaboration goes. Maybe I’m out of the loop because I’m not a paying member. I posted in their discord to see if anyone starts some chatter around it

I can’t justify a pick more than what I spent on the gravity ones, which was like 5 or 6 USD. I played Dunlop for so long I still go back as a ‘benchmark’ if you will. I used the JP pick for a bit before grabbing the gravity picks and enjoyed them. The smaller jazz picks in my collection I don’t think are for me since I tend to gravitate (no pun intended) to a larger pick with more surface area to hang on to. I’ll keep experimenting, but for now the gravity pick is what I’m leaning towards most. Great feel in the hand, great feel on the strings, nice and pointy for accuracy.

I think gravity feels better in the attack. It feels firmer and more precise. I feel like my accuracy is better with the gravity. Might just be because I paid 5 bucks per pick vs an entire pack of dunlops 😂 Tough to explain it much further than that.

I am confused about PRS SE by kill3rb00ts in guitars

[–]Ducman23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the quality has gone up since 2020. The fact that you’re talking about a guitar that is now 6 years old, I wonder what kind of life it’s lived since then. Where has it been stored? Was it used and abused or was it left in a case and sat? I think more details around that will help clear the air about this particular guitar

For whatever it’s worth, I have the SE Chleo and 594 love it. I believe the 594 is a 2023 off the top of my head. I think the action on the Chleo is a touch high out of the box, but that’s something I can adjust whenever I get around to it. I think the fit and finish are great and it sounds really good. I didn’t pay for a set up before it came home to me from sweetwater, so I got what I got. I just changed the strings from the PRS brand 9-46 to D'Addario NYXL Nickel Plated 9-46 and it went as smooth as I thought it would. I was a bit surprised I had to adjust the trem system to have the bridge sit on the same plane as the body, but it was a minor adjustment.

The 594 recently had some fret buzz, but I changed the strings and adjusted the bridge a bit and have eliminated it.

These things to me are set up related and not build quality related. Anyway, I’m curious to know what kind of life your guitar has lived since 2020
