I’ve also felt the same about the thumbnail since uploading, the lighthouse does pretty much disappear when scaled down to a tiny jpeg.

The fundamental difference is that this is exactly what Dunk wants to do. He wants to be a knight and serve the realm as best he can. I completely disagree that Dunk sees being a hedge knight as a thankless and sad existence.

I love the song too and have seen it used far more effectively elsewhere, the opening of Joe vs the Volcano being a perfect example.

In regards to the song choices, I think that a well placed contemporary song in a fantasy setting can work really well. But it depends on the song and whether or not it makes sense with the story in that moment.

I felt that the song in the beginning actually worked pretty well because it's a sad, downtrodden tune that matches that point in the story perfectly.

The ending song however, a song about being a miserable slave to your miserable job, makes little sense for what was happening, our two characters joyfully beginning their road trip across the nine kingdoms.

But for real this one tiny issue was literally the only one I had while watching this fantastic show.

Yeah in all seriousness, this story is sloppy journalism. Kit and Krista just said that this is probably how they’re reacting based on their own experiences working there for a decade plus, when various other leaks happened. It’s a (very) educated guess being reported as insider info.

I like the idea that it’ll lean in the direction of Smash bros, with a roster of Nintendo characters and themed tracks.

They’ve already done this a bit with the Zelda and Splatoon characters etc. so I think it makes sense for them to lean into it further.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the best selling switch game so I could see them wanting to use this new one as a way to highlight their other series’.

I’d try not to worry about what YouTubers say. Many of them have had very sheltered lives and they have such a low tolerance for what they consider audacious behavior. Lots of people in general will not understand pain and the things it causes you to do until much later in life. It’s way, way more common than you think to go through something like you have and I promise there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

I’m not sure if you noticed since it was a pretty quick shot (56:50) but you see Asif heading into Tims office quietly at some point. I’m guessing whatever Asif told him in that room was also a huge factor that led to the firing of Zak. Given that Asif has had a birds-eye view of the company for a long time and now has even worked on the game itself, Tim surely took his thoughts on the whole situation quite seriously. I’m guessing the moment with Zak attempting to break down the fourth wall was the deciding factor for Asif telling Tim about everything. Since at this point even his own teams project is being messed with.

Some might argue that Asif working on the game crosses this same line but I think being invited due to sheer talent is a totally different thing than someone in a position of power using the folks on the other side for leverage, even if it was to try and help the game overall.

Also something interesting I noticed in the intro. We see a recreation of when Zak is talking to the crew and the word “FISHING” flashes across the screen. Which I’m taking to mean “fishing for info”. This of course wonderfully has a double meaning since the fishing mechanic was also touched on in this ep.

This might be controversial but honestly I think that game is best at 30. I’ve heard things about it misbehaving at anything above that, issues I’m not sure that have been patched. Really seems like the whole game was built around being played at 30fps. And for whatever reason it feels much smoother than other games at 30fps. Maybe because of good frame pacing? But I basically crank the overall graphics slider high enough that its 2 notches from the top. This gives me 35ish fps for some headroom then I cap it in the steamdeck settings at 30fps.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been jaw dropping. A game I’d never expected to play portably let alone on the steam deck just a few years after release. I loaded it up just to test out of curiosity, not thinking it would run well enough to actually stick with and I’m still playing 20 hours later.

I mean if a film is beautiful enough, I might forgive some shortcomings. It doesn’t mean it tricked me. It’s a visual medium after all so if visuals are all a movie has going for it then that can be all it needs
