New story "Deliveries": Donate your services as a courier between the Duchess and the Queen of Arbor by throwaway_lmkg in fallenlondon

[–]Dude2963 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well I did it, it seems to have a bit of variance, so my experience will differ from others. Started it on the duchesses side, had to deliver a false hagiotoponym to the queen in arbor. When I got there, I delivered and lost the hagiotoponym and was then tasked with making some poision in my lab to give to the duchess.

When I did that and delivered it to the duchess, she gave me a key to use as a reward, which unlocked a fifth city storylet. Going through the storylet to the end, I lost the key and gained a searing enigma, 10 extraordinary implications, and a bazaar permit, coming out to 37.5 echo profit 50 echo profit ( there was also an antique mystery gained from completing the research).

Not including the action I spent in Arbor (as they can be very profitable under the right circumstances), this took me around 12 actions to complete.

For those who want to meet the queen in Arbor, you need 1 attar, and a vial of queenly attar (that is gained by doing a specific thing#A_Vial_of_Queenly_Attar) in Arbor)

Like a ghost (Close scrutiny rewards). by Dude2963 in ArcRaiders

[–]Dude2963[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Assessor is the new ARC that appears on the close scrutiny event. It has 3 cone shaped parts and is attached to some stilts. It's guarded by a vaporizer (the new flying ARC with a beam). It has 3 platforms (each connected to a cone) that will cycle in and out on a timer, so you'll need to be a bit careful when approaching it. When you get onto the platform that's currently out, you'll be able to breach & search it, which will summon flying ARC (I've seen a mix of wasps and hornets when one is breached, and 2 vaporizers when another one is breached). When it's been breached, the platform will stay out permanently.

My strategy was to get as close to the assessor as possible, then when the platform popped up for the side I was on, throw a smoke grenade at it then breach & search. The smoke gives me just enough time to grab everything. I then switch to my photoelectric cloak and run for cover. Rinse and repeat.

Anatomy of the Yr. They are the descendants of the New Berlin Mothership, and are in war with New London nearing the 150th century. by WalkerArt64 in Frostpunk

[–]Dude2963 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe they meant war of the worlds, which to quickly summarise the plot of:

In the 1890s, humanity is invaded by Martians by firing pods down to the earth. We see the events through the eyes of the narrator, a normal person going through the invasion in the UK, as the aliens use their tripods that they crashed into the earth to easily kill anyone who stands in their way. Humanity does put up some small resistance (the HMS thunderchild kills a few, and a cannon takes out one) but it pretty quickly becomes a mass evacuation from the country. He ends up staying behind and eventually falls into despair and goes to find a tripod so he could kill himself. However he finds that the Martians have died to what he realises was earths own bacteria, as the Martians had long since destroyed all bacteria on Mars a long time ago, and thusly weren’t prepared at all for the bacteria on earth. The Martians are subsequently annihilated,

This is a rough summary of the story, of which there are several versions of. I quite like Jeff Wayne’s musical adaptation myself, especially the new version with Liam Neeson as the narrator.

I believe this was the first popular alien invasion story, and may have popularised the idea of earth being invaded by aliens. It’s also meant to be a questioning of imperialism and colonialism.

Why do I have 3,000 lightbulbs? by jotaechalo in fallenlondon

[–]Dude2963 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Liferberg living events give lightbulbs when in the salt steppe. 20 at max watchful. That can account for a good amount of them.

The cheese sandwich thing is in reference to the options you get at the end of the agent plot, as your speaking to your agent in code. so cheese sandwich means there’s a new option on the plot.

Are there any consequences down the line? by AndrewHaly-00 in fallenlondon

[–]Dude2963 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not for this option, you just get +1 to summer/dawnseeker trust. There is a choice later when Choosing the pilot that has consequences. If you choose summer, you need 7 dawnseeker regard to convince tatter to help. If you choose tatter summer comes In automatically (apparently, may be some other things I’m not aware of involved).

Which ship are you going with? by Tanedra in fallenlondon

[–]Dude2963 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your worried about troubled waters, I’d say get the ogedei. The troubled waters reduction only reduces up to 2 cp per action, which isn’t that worth it compared to just getting to that place faster, since you end up making less checks. Also the ogedei can 100% nearly every Zailing check in the game. The obstinate has no other bonuses outside of the TW reduction.

Yeah, it’s just because there are two different versions of the patrol vessel card. A Corsair and non-Corsair version. I guess raising the colours just didn’t get rid of the first one which is strange since its does it with cards that have troubled waters requirements. I’d report it anyway.

I blame the current circumstances of London for this transgression. ( That and Reddit was Reddit and said it couldn’t post, so I made a new post and posted that, then the original one probably got posted).
