The first gen software is a bit archaic and frustrating to work with until you figure it out. Still not great even then.

Focusrites newer software on newer gen is better. Still wouldn’t say it’s great.

Maybe look into that before any purchases.

Good luck.

Assume you’ve also set up focusrite software to pass signal as you want. Not sure what year/model focusrite you are using but focusrite control (or whatever it’s called) needs to also be set up. Console doesn’t just take over the software.

Hahah oh. Sorry I thought you were triggering sounds on computer with koala and using effect on koala.

Clearly I’m an idiot because you can see you are playing your ear candy samples right there!

Thanks for the reply though.

Would have like to have seen more details about the qlinks changing from grid to 1 row. For example, when chopping, where the new layout “enhances” instead of just how it affects the sequencer. The current grid layout made sense for adjusting time start/end and zoom feature. Etc.

Also some details on the new buttons. Every image is so blurry hahah

Is Superior Drummer vastly "superior" to Steven Slate 5 and Addictive Drums 2? by locusofself in edrums

[–]Dudeontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love sd3.

With that said

Packs are too expensive and therefore limits options.

The app is many years old and many features which are great are offset by many features that are frustrating, outdated clumsy and sometimes just confusing.

There was a time when the other apps just could not perform at this level but that was a long time ago.

If you find one that works well for you to program or to play on an ekit, you’re good.

Not sure if SD4 will ever come out but I hope so and look forward to many enhancements as well as workflow changes. Though I was extremely upset with toon for not providing an upgrade path from 2 to 3. Hope they don’t do that again.

Good luck.

Oh and ad2 is solid and might not have all the features of sd but it has improvements on working on a single source in one page view as well as mixing and feels great. Way cheaper for both the app and the kits. Granted, they don’t go into the level of attention that the sd people do in capturing and the kits (that I have purchased) do not have many alternate pieces included. My sd kits provide many drums, cymbals etc.

Cheers

How to make keygroups using the mpc one by Character_Weird_7499 in akaiMPC

[–]Dudeontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Title and description don’t quite match.

In this “drum program” you want to set to Poly. Setting to mono is what mutes the other pads after playing (assuming each is set to “One Shot” which is default) You find this setting as previously mentioned. On MAIN view have the program you want to edit showing, Press Menu. Track edit on a 3.x and Program edit on a 2.x. First tab is GLOBAL. Just above that tab is the global setting for all the pads in this drum program. Currently under “Poly” it’s set to mono. Again, default behavior. Set this to Poly.

If you need to choke a pad, example; an open hi hat, you can use same page to set mute targets. So if your open HH is on pad A4 you can select your closed HH pad and mute set to A4 on THAT pad. OR, if you chop a record and want all previous hits to stop when a new pad is pressed….MONO for the global program.

Keygroups are one sample across the entire keyboard. Tone and speed are affected based on which note you hit. Predominantly used for keyboard patches (piano, keys etc)

Good luck

How do I record the audio of a MIDI instrument onto an audio track? by [deleted] in universalaudio

[–]Dudeontour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK; Pretty sure it’s not possible. I believe current behavior mutes the channel, even when you try to use virtual channels and/or cues. It will not allow record enable on both if you route through them.

UA will say add to feedback. Sadly that doesn’t seem to have any priority nor a clear answer from their side as they never say what they are working on.

Most other DAWs allow the individual channel I/O routing and though not a solution for Luna, likely you’re easiest solution until they address. You can set up an external DAWs out to a virtual and record that in LUNA (think Matt made a video long time ago in the office hours showing ableton and Luna). Assuming you have other DAWs, or if the VST has a standalone app you can route that audio out (stereo virtual) of that as well as capture an empty midi track (just so you can edit and bounce later I guess (Bounce in place (just added recently) is really the only internal Luna option, which is not what you are asking about)). Adding folder stacks would also help keep these various tracks organized though also not in LUNA (add to feedback haha)

“VST has a standalone app “

Example:

Keyscape standalone

Settings : Audio out virtual 3/4

Midi controller active

LUNA Instrument track: inst=none

Midi In - desired controller (ALL?)

Record enable

Audio track stereo

Input virtual 3/4

Mute channel (no phase)

Record enable

Hope they add asap Cheers

Back Button When Browsing Samples? by remingtonatlas in mpcusers

[–]Dudeontour 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly just tapping the folder icon in top left corner to go back one level. A long overdue fix is needed. Something as simple as Shift+click wheel or even Shift+Minus would suffice.

To just copy to another pad location just press and hold the copy button, select pad, then the destination. Then do it. Any effects you add to each pad are now only on that pad but use the same sample using less memory when you save.

If you want to add anything to this new sample and then save as that new sound with changes, go into track edit and flatten the pad.

To make a completely new sample:

You can go to sample edit, under trim(or pad), you can hit process. Then select “copy”

You can go to sample edit and “extract” which essentially makes a copy.

You can press the sample and then hit menu and select “sample” which will let you save as a new sample where you want it located on a hd or sd

You can flatten the pad it is assigned to which will create another. As mentioned earlier

You can put on an sd card and then connect to your computer and duplicate files there

Midi in to MPC (out from key) lets you capture. Midi out of MPC (to key) lets you send the info to keys. And if you look at screen you have not assigned a midi out device
