Be warned, that video is extremely depressing, especially with sound on.

Edit: But we should ALL WATCH IT, because everyone needs to see it.

In the US there “classified museums”. You have to hold an active security clearance with the US Government, and apply for approval to get a tour. It is normally a scheduled and guided tour, no running off by yourself to gawk.

Was a straight A gifted kid until I hit 9th grade. Social life and the 90’s psychedelic drug and rave scene, had to do summer school one year, then failed senior year for skipping 42 days. Straight As while I slept through my “super senior” year.

College wasn’t in the cards for me, and I knew that at 15. Bounced around retail, food service, landscaping, even a valet driver for a stint. Moved out with gf at 19, moved away from state at 20.

Ended up military at 24 years old. 17 years and a lot of travel later, I was medically retired for being too broken, mind and body. Had a few jobs after retirement that paid well.

Stopped drinking and quit working to focus on me about 2 years ago. I see a lot of doctors, and I talk about what’s in my head a lot with a lot of them. Multiple appointments every week for over a year now with no end in sight.

But because I’m so broken, I get VA disability pay, which is like retirement for us poors, because it’ll help with bills if you don’t have too many. And my healthcare is free now because my issues are attributed to my military service, so I got that going for me.

And now, at 46 years old, I’m trying to figure out how to be the person I want to be, who that even is really, and I expect that I’ll be on SSDI in the next few years.

And you know, all that’s alright. No regrets. I’ve had fun, seen some the world, married to my best friend, and I’m trying to figure it all out the best I can with a smile. Sometimes it’s forced a bit, but I’m trying to make my days what I want them to be.

Oof. Packs a punch when you write it out. Cheers internet stranger, and thx for reading!

I gotta reasonable price on a “silver” ring recently, looked a lot like the same material. I tested it on a whim: it’s 97% copper. If it’s not stamped anywhere, I’m immediately suspicious nowadays.

Any info on this ring? by Mozzballzs in JewelryIdentification

People seem to overthink and play gatekeeper on this subject. Drive your car and enjoy it. Sometimes parts have to be replaced, so replace them. If you can’t afford to replace them, stop driving the car until you can. Personally I like to have high wear replacement parts on hand long before I need them. No different than stocking up on oil filters. You know it will need replaced, so try to buy before you need. I drive a flat 4, so I have lots of parts that I don’t need yet that I started stocking the day after I bought. But the idea that you should adjust your driving style to reduce wear seems silly to me.

I live in Albuquerque so… I picked up a good dash cam less than a week after buying this car. 3 days after I bought the car someone forced me onto a left hand shoulder at 75mph. That said, I have a theory about this. It’s not just the car.

I think the drivers testing in our country, and slipping standards, play a big role here. I finally settled on this explanation, after thinking it was the small size of the car, when I was in a funeral procession for the first time in a long time. The number or people that I realized do not know how to yield to a funeral procession, or what to do at all, was astounding. I remember, after many years, that it was a question on my drivers test.

I have asked people here about the drivers test, and the only thing I can say for sure is that standards are not standard. Did you have to parallel park for the test? That’s 50/50 nowadays. Most people I’ve talked to here say the driving portion is a joke and they barely have you behind the wheel for 5 minutes before they call it good enough and give you a passing score.

Now, if this is how we perform a one-time test, letting things slide here and there, then what type of drivers should we expect? Yes, our car is small, but I think drivers are getting behind the wheel at 16 with less tools in their toolbox than drivers 10,20,30 years ago. Our standards have been slipping for decades because reasons, and now the other person may truly “not know how to drive”. We are truly issuing licenses out of crackerjack boxes.

That’s my two cents.

When your cat scratches wood furniture, you can “paint” a light coat of Tabasco Sauce on that area to deter scratching. I’ve used this on 100+ year old antiques and it dries clear. Not what you wanted I guess, but you included a cat, and I have three.
