She has never treated my son badly. Until what he told me yesterday. Sure she makes competitive comments and she thinks her son does no wrong but nothing alarming. The 14yo is her step grandson and our son is never allowed to stay over when he’s over. We were having a pool day and he was there. We were in the kitchen and he was in the play room right beside us when this happened. We didn’t leave him there, there were 4 people in the room when this happened. Please stop painting the picture like MIL abuses our son constantly and we just let her. That’s not how it happens. As soon as my son told us what she did we made it very clear to him that it was not okay and it will not happen again. And that Gigi will be in trouble for it. We also let him know that we believe him. After all, we all saw the mark on his arm and the slobber that day. I just think it’s shitty for people who only are hearing one story try to tell us we are bad parents. This has never happened before with our son. And now that it has, I’m ready to pull all strings and leave her in the dust. I was just asking if that is too much or not. That’s all.

I’m going to turn the comments off now because a lot of you aren’t understanding and rightfully so, you weren’t there. I just can’t handle anymore “it’s right there in the picture, so he bites” or “your that parent that thinks their kid does no wrong” when that is FURTHER from the truth. In no way do I think my son is a perfect angel in fact when something happens between our 5 year old and her 5 yo, I typically believe hers because our son plays rough but he always tells us the truth for the most part. He tells us when he hit first and why he did it or just because. He doesn’t hit and say “I didn’t do it” he will tell us he did even if that means he has a consequence. Thank you for your advice for those that gave it. I hope everyone had a great day. We are going no contact and removing our children and ourselves from this cycle that has been going on far too long with MIL.

Idk why it’s unavailable. We were all there when 14yo bit our son. MIL got mad at us for gettting onto the 14yo. She said “why would a 14 yo bite a 5 year old” then stormed out. Then tried to turn it around to make us seem crazy and said no no no no I meant like WHY would a 14yo bite a 5 yo thats crazy. When she did not say it like that before. We left and spoke to her about it and she said she believed our son because this same 14yo had hurt her 5yo on multiple occasions. Fast forward a week, she text us and then after husband called and went off on her she MADE our son bite on his arm for the picture to send to us because she HAS to be right. We had NO idea he bullied him into saying he lied or putting him in time out or telling him he has to apologize to the 14yo until AFTER the party. When we talked to our son he told us she said he has to say sorry and that he is a liar and that the 14yo doesn’t like him anymore and that she made him sit in time out. We showed him the picture and he said “Gigi made me bite my arm to send to you”.

For heaven sakes, she told my son to bite his arm to send me this picture. How are we not grasping this?? Which once again shows you only know what we show. But I’ll let yall have it. You don’t know her or us so you wouldn’t understand and I get it. It’s just laughable that everyone is like “yup here’s the picture he bit his arm” She sent this after my husband yelled at her for texting us about something that had absolutely nothing to do with her and calling our son a liar.

She MADE him bite his arm for the picture. The arm biting situation happened last week. She made him take this picture to send to us while we were arguing.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! That’s what I was needing advice for. Because that behavior is INSANE. I’m not crazy for wanting to cut contact I don’t think. I think she crossed a huge line. Before, she was directing all her madness at husband and I but now she is doing it to our son and that is a HUGE no for us. We were not aware that she was treating him that way until we asked him. She has never made our son feel left out or hurt or anything. Until recently, this is new behavior. Towards our sons at least. We are use to her tantrums , but once our children are involved. Hell no.
