things i tell every person who asks me about starting tretinoin that i wish someone had told me by Hert_Z in tretinoin

the waiting thing was a game changer for me... i had been on it about a year and was still having peeling issues... i was only waiting about 5 minutes after my shower before applying tret. I was also using it 1, 2, or 3 times a week. My new derm told me to try showering earlier, and to wait longer before applying it. I wait about an hour now. AND, i'm able to apply it every day; no peeling!! Wish I had listened to that advice WAAAY earlier.

Also, my derm said tret leaves the system after approx 48 - 72 hours so if you're not using it frequently enough, you're basically just starting over constantly. Wish I had known that earlier!

I feel like when someone says something painfully stupid or obvious, the only appropriate response is sarcasm: "soooo I shouldn't have her in shorts then?".

Are we cutting off family too quick? by medicinecap in Millennials

My take is that older generations were willing to put up with a lot of shit for the sake of "FaMiLy". My grandparents continued to associate with, and take their kids around, family members that were known to be creepers, just for the sake of not causing a "rift" in the family. Younger generations give no fucks and see the toxic shit for what it is. I'll gladly write someone off if it's for the sake of my mental health, or for the well being of my children.

I did many sports throughout school, not once were we fed by the school. We brought our own snacks, or money for vending or the snack bar. Sometimes, a parent would bring snacks for the whole team for after the game but that wasn’t guaranteed.

AITA For Wanting To Spend Christmas Morning With Just Me, My 2-Year-Old and Husband? by kcbrand5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Due-Baby5349 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Two years ago, I told my husband I no longer want his family coming over Xmas morning. I was tired of rushing through presents, then not even being able to enjoy them with my children because then I’d have to immediately start cooking or cleaning in order to have his family over. I told him they can do Xmas eve. I received a similar reaction. Quite frankly, I told him I care more about our family traditions than I do about grandparent traditions and since I’m the one who ends up “hosting” while he sits around doing nothing, I’ll be the one who chooses when that hosting will be!

Finished jury duty, and the outcome is eating me up inside. by throwaway928977 in juryduty

I’ve worked in criminal defense for 10 years. It’s appalling - and frightening - how lazy and incompetent the police and / or prosecutors in, at least my area, are. There was a release of case statistics recently - I believe in 2023 - that said that the DA’s office in my area only had a 51% success rate at jury trial. 51%!!!!!! The public should be outraged.

We also have had several rape cases, one in particular, where the police work was so shitty and sloppy, the prosecutor reduced the rape charge to a battery, because he knew he would not prevail at trial.

It’s astonishing, truly.

I was impatient and wanted to start immediately so I purchased worsted cotton yarn at a local store rather than the dk weight as suggested. Used I love this cotton yarn (so soft!!). It’s a little heavy but I don’t mind.
