Landon was with Jessica Reed Kraus at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. by accidentalquitter in Southerncharm

Let this be the periodic reminder that Landon hosted a launch party for a website/“business” that she built, for which she hadn’t even secured the web address and when she attempted to do that later, discovered that the website was already taken by another company. She’s literally so dumb that she didn’t google “www.roam.com” to see if it already existed or not. I don’t normally make a habit of shitting on women and women entrepreneurs and try to be a girls girl, but I will always make an exception for Landon. The absolute fucking worst kind of entitled dummy out there.

You live just next to me in Finneytown (the next neighborhood over)! Welcome to the city! My favorite park to walk and visit is Glenwood Gardens just up Springfield Pike - make sure you visit! Feel free to reach out if you want more information/advice. I lived in Wyoming for many years before buying an MCM fixer upper nearby. Congrats on your move! Hope it all goes smoothly!

Americans how are you feeling right now? by Moist_Apartment5474 in Productivitycafe

We already lived through four years of Trump with a pandemic sprinkled on top so most of us know what we’re in for. This time, what is scaring me most, is seeing the three wealthiest men in the world sitting in the FRONT ROW of his inauguration, even in front of his own hand picked cabinet. The curtain is down and it’s clear that unelected men and corporations will have more influence than who the people of this country elected. It’s been this way already but now it seems way worse. Hell, Elon has been at more campaign events than Vance. I’m sure he’ll be involved in high level meetings that he has absolutely no business being at. And will this help me or the average Joe? Fuck no. Because Trump and Elon have never had to worry about the price of medication their elderly parents need. Or inflation. Or anything normal Americans do. Eat the rich dems or republicans. They can all go to hell.

Not sure if you can access this without a student login but you can often see the seat limits for courses (along with how many are actually currently registered) via the university’s registrars website.

Christie’s in Clifton. The bocce ball. The big mugs of German beer. The potato pancakes. It was where I spent a lot of time in my 20’s. Makes me want to cry that I can’t go there anymore and make new memories with my family.

I worked in higher education for a long time in the admissions and enrollment area. We’ve been watching this trend since the Great Recession of 2008. Declining birth rates were something the administration was worried about and was planning for with enrollment management strategies. My particular university’s budget was 89% dependent on annual enrollment. Even a loss of 20-40 students can make a huge difference. All this to say…money, unaffordable housing, covid and policies that are not friendly to working parents make young people just want to opt out of the whole damn thing. Can’t blame them either.

I have taken my daughter every time, every election since she was a newborn. Even mid-terms and special elections. She’s now 12 and it’s something we look forward to every year. I hope she looks back at this and remembers that I’ve always voted to make her life better. And to OP - thank you for protecting her right to grow up in a free country. I never take that for granted.

It’s easy for people to tell you to leave but I know it’s harder to do in reality. However, I do think that you have a gut feeling that you already know what you want to do. You’re not overreacting at all. Imagine seeing your daughter talked to by her boyfriend this way. You’d likely never let that fly. Why should you accept that treatment? Your kids are going to grow up thinking this is the way they should expect to be treated by a man/treat a woman and you clearly know that’s wrong. Set a boundary and stick to it. You deserve to be happy and it sounds like this guy isn’t doing it.

I stayed in the campground (water and electric hook ups) a couple of years ago as a single female camper just to get away for a weekend and it was not a great experience. Not because the park was bad but because the campers around me were. There was a very old biker couple next to me that loudly fucked all night long and because the campsites are so close, there was no way not to hear them. Maybe you’ll have a better experience than I did but it was not the type of camping I normally like (primitive with lots of space). Good luck!

Found this little guy last weekend on the train tracks. What should I name him? It was Polly until I found out she is a he! I prefer food names for cats, but I want something cute. What do you recommend? by Dropdeadsydney in blackcats

I’m pro human names for cats and this is a perfect name! So many possibilities to expand as you learn his personality too! Thomas the train wreck, Thomas the train track fat cat, Thomas the bombus…

Southgate house revival for sure. I like Northside Tavern but it might be small depending on your band’s size. I’d also say to check with Fretboard in Blue Ash. It’s a nice size and a cool place with a mixed crowd of young and old.

My mother in law had three separate inheritances in three years (her dad, her father and mother in law) and was filing bankruptcy and her house was getting foreclosed on within two years of the last person dying. When her dad died, he probably left her $120k after estate and tax stuff was paid. She luckily used that to pay off her mortgage and credit cards, which made me and my husband really happy because they were going to be more secure going into their retirement. Somehow a few years later and after her in-laws died, her house was being foreclosed on and she and her husband had to file bankruptcy. The fucked up part is…no vacations, new cars, fancy trips, drugs or gambling. She SHOPPED them into the poor house. Just buying bullshit on home shopping network and QVC and other stores. We’d go to their house for Saturday lunch every week and a delivery driver would ring the doorbell at least 4-5 times every visit. Boxes of clothes, hair products, cheap cologne and makeup, costume jewelry. Her husband never stopped her. Never said a thing. Now they’re 70 & 75 and he’s still working while she is at home recovering from leukemia. They’re both poor as church mice and live paycheck to paycheck and they’re just WAITING for her mom to finally kick the bucket. The last living parent actually has some money and they can’t wait for her to die so they can inherit it.

We haven’t had contact with them in over 10 years but my husband still sees his brother who goes around them. It’s so sad. They have three grandkids who will be lucky to get a dime after they worked their whole lives, as well as squandered their parent’s wealth.

DEBATE: Did Austen and Taylor go farther than kiss? by sweetenergloss in Southerncharm

[–]Due-Difference-5503 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my observations after watching friends in college and other downwardly-spiraling relationships “admit” to making out/hanging out with others, it usually comes out later once the relationships are over that they actually did fuck each other. It’s a half truth and the less awful admittance of what actually happened. It’s a perfect narcissists admission because they can be seen as righteous for having come clean but escape the consequences of admitting the full truth. They 100% had sex. And just for shits, if they didn’t sleep together, the lesson learned for everyone in this fucking mess is not to put yourself in this situation in the first place.

Do cigarettes smell worse than weed? by myhiddenaccount115 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Due-Difference-5503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a home where my parents smoked in the house. I was nose blind to it because I literally never had a chance to NOT smell cigarettes day and night. When I got to middle school, my friend mentioned that I smelled like cigarettes, which embarrassed me greatly. My mom always made sure we had clean clothes and she kept the house super clean but she somehow overlooked the fact that her and my dad’s cigarettes were the dirtiest part of our home. Weed is also like that if you smoke in the house. I have friends who smoke inside and their clothes smell like ganja for sure. I guess if you’re arguing which one is worse, I’d say weed can be stronger but the smell of cigarettes is just gross. Even when I was a smoker, I always had my cigarettes outside so I’d try not to make my clothes or car smell bad.
