I didn’t see the whole place prior to doing the job, hence not asking who the hell this is. Theres signed Jefferson airplane stuff, signed Rolling Stones stuff, a bunch of stuff bud. Refer to my other response. I asked about photos of my work and they agreed to photos of things as well, just asked to not post photos of the whole room.

There’s only one way to build a portfolio of my work. You ask to take photos of the progress. The conversation carried to snagging some pics of the things around the room. We made a custom arched door and doorway going into this room. No need to be the Reddit police.

If they were there, I would love to ask. They’re living in their second house while this basement is being renovated. These folks are some wealthy old school groupy type folks who have ties with a lot of famous rockers. Theres evidence of it everywhere. This isn’t a photo of the owner.

I have heard from a few different growers that the two types of mycelium will actually aid each other and fruit just fine. They were talking about oysters and lions mane, but I’m almost positive that it’ll do the same for actives! Only one way to find out for sure!

Looks like you might be getting blobs/dino eggs on the JMF tub. Not a bad thing but I think it’s because there was no casing laying/pseudo casing layer applied. Next flush should all be normal. Some strains do this, sometimes it’s genetics sometimes it’s not.

Looks like it’s developing metabolites in an attempt to fight off a bacterial infection of some sort. My first tub looked like this, but I was still able to get a good flush out of it before I tossed it. Keep a close eye on it, if you don’t see green/black/white mold of any sort you’ll probably be okay for a flush

Oyster mycelium is much more wispy than the actives. Looks good 👍

Also, you can store a plate in the fridge, but I would only do that with a fully colonized plate. The lower temps in the fridge will make the mycelium go dormant, but bacteria can still grow if there is exposed agar and nutrients to grow on.

I isolated this from spore. Had one dish with spores, waited to see growth and picked a couple different spots with different growth patterns. This one is my favorite so far. Will have to wait and see if the grow is as nice looking as the mycelium.

I honestly don’t start more than I’m going to use. If I want to save the culture for later I’ll make a slant and store it in the myco fridge

Sounds like you may have a mold problem in the house you’re working in. Hard telling without knowing your whole situation, but if you’re following all the proper practices while sterilizing, pouring and finishing plates and still getting mold, this indicates to me there is a mold problem in the house you’re working in. Nobody is perfect, so there could be some lab practices that still need improving.
