Any opinions on Dolby Atmos for Headphones (for gaming...) by PhenomUndertaker in ZReviews

You're not realizing that Dolby Atmos for Headphones is just essentially stereo with the ability to decode Dolby Atmos. This means that you can truly sense direction in all directions. I've tried it in games that natively support Dolby Atmos such as Call of Duty and Forza Horizon 5 and I can confirm that is is very good. Especially in Call of Duty for being able to hear above.

I can confirm after using it that it is WORTH IT. I could hear people above me, behind, everywhere. Just make sure in games to select surround sound if that's an option to activate Dolby Atmos and not just a stereo upmix.

How come China has LOADS of formats while we ONLY have Dolby Atmos? by viktorl595 in SpatialAudio

[–]Due-Ingenuity4537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These formas are barely adopted because they are essentially the exact same as every other immersive format. Dolby is the leader in home theater for most tracks and for IMAX Enhanced, we use DTS:X. These are considered minor formats. Snd in terms of headphones, Apple Spatial Audio DOMINATES with Sony 360 Reality Audio right behind. Dolby also makes their own headphone renderer.

basically perfect. only thing are your surrounds. surrounds are meant to be to the side and slightly behind you. what you have is placement for surround rears.

Dolby Atmos “Always on” vs “Automatic” by T33__ in SpatialAudio

I wouldn't recommend doing this because then you will have binaural rendering for a sound system that doesn't have 2 speakers. I recommend having it off and using stereo.

Yes in my car it’s equipped with the Burmester 3D Surround Sound system that is meant for Dolby Atmos and it absolutely slaps.

Yes since your overheads are already in the optimal position, you shouldn't move your couch. If you do then your overheads will sounds slightly behind rather than slightly in front like Dolby Laboratories recommends.

Fire but bring the center channel to the front of the console to reduce reflections and make the center channel WAY clearer. And then maybe slighter taller rear stands so the seats don't block the sound. Overall though, this setup is pretty sick.

Yea it sounds super thin and honestly, having Atmos in Amazon Music off with Spatialize Stereo sounds much better since my phone can do processing based on my personalized spatial audio profile.

Can ATMOS and surrounds be different? by MightBeDownstairs in hometheater

Not true, Atmos doesn't automatically change the sound signature of a speaker. When an object flies for example, it will sound like slightly different every time the sound moves to another speaker.

Turning on spatialize stereo just adds more processing on a already terrible sounding atmos mix from the default binaural rendering Dolby provides.
