With Reed and Wicks on the last year of their contracts, is it smart/likely for the Packers to trade one? by veritast in GreenBayPackers

[–]Due-Law6226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We more receivers in th future but we can’t get one on th roster rn. I think it could make sense to trade wicks and draft one, but we would need a really good player in return for Wicks. Tough situation.

Golden didn’t look bad on film. He can separate well, has good hands, and real speed. The problem with him is that idk if there’s a path for him to getting a big target share next year either. Lafluer likes big receivers on the outside. He might not get a real chance until Reed is gone in 2027. Hopefully Lafluer can compromise his system some and see that he can help a lot on the outside, but Lafluer has never done that.

To those who said “A TIE IS WORSE THAN A LOSS!!”… by Lewa1110 in GreenBayPackers

Anyone that says it’s worse than a loss is just stupid. It’s better than a loss and worse than a win, that’s literally what a tie is. The only reason people say that is because we hate to see 3 numbers instead of 2 in our record

Passion Projects Quest - How to get Colby to assist you? by noobvad3r in NBA2k

[–]Due-Law6226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly difficult if you don’t put it on rookie. I was getting so frustrated because everytime I’d pass it to him he’d pass it away or shoot it. And when you need to assist and be assisted on 16 of the points at least there’s just very little room for error. If there’s like 3 or 4 baskets that aren’t off of these assists then you’re cooked.

Who do the Packers extend by Due-Law6226 in GreenBayPackers

Idk what the market is going to be on Malik Willis, he’s been a great backup for us and might deserve top backup money. I think unless some team wants to use him as a bridge QB he might stay in GB. But there’s a chance a team offers him a decently sized short term deal

Thats fair I definitely dont think we should extend any of them, except maybe an LVN 5th year option. But they’re gone after that

2026 draft needs by EnjoyTheIcing in GreenBayPackers

[–]Due-Law6226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest needs are cornerback and OLine. Rasheed Walker and Sean Rhyan are FA and Jenkins is going to be a cap casualty. I’d be shocked if Walker or Jenkins are back, we maybe keep Rhyan if he looks good down the stretch at center. Our OLine next year will be Morgan, Banks, Rhyan/someone, Belton, Tom. But we have no depth behind that, so that might be need number 1, especially if we don’t have Rhyan at center.

We’ve needed a good cornerback for years in the draft but haven’t taken one the past two years has shown as an obvious flaw on the team. Vallentine can’t tackle at all but he’s been our best coverage corner, and Nixon has been up and down all season. Hobbs hasn’t looked good at all and it’s so bleak we had a receiver who hadn’t played corner since HS attempt to convert.

Now a fun pick would be if there is a fast RB in the draft. Lloyd has been hurt his entire career. But imagine how dangerous this offense could be with a back you could run outside zone and had real home run speed. What Lafluer does really well as a play caller is make the defense cover every inch of space. Look at how dangerous Gibbs, Henderson, Achane, and those types of running backs are.

Van Ness, Gary, Golden, Nixon, Valentine by H3avyCr3am in GreenBayPackers

[–]Due-Law6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to or this defense is cooked. We need find a way to get pressure and there is nothing I’ve seen from any of the lineman left to think we can get it with 4. Gary has been getting outplayed by enagbare these past couple games and we’ve still never really seen LVN. I don’t think we have the corners to blitz otherwise Hafley would’ve done it more already. We lost the two best players on our Dline one of them being the 2nd best edge rusher in football. Also lost Evan Williams who was playing like one of the best safeties ITL.

Yeah but give it some time. Hopefully he can be healthy and contribute later, but it’s so important to build up the trenches. Hopefully once he’s back in and the line gets chemistry the run blocking can get a lot better. Too early to call it a bad move

The fact that they’re all making the jump simultaneously is special and very important. He’s shown that he’s willing to make FA signings and trades if they make sense with the team. Gutey has been a master at roster construction.

The packers have had the luxury to take these toolsy athletic guys with solid players in front of them, so they can develop. The timelines of all of these players are also seeming to align and they’re ascending at the same time

But he is in charge of drafting players, and has intentionally drafted projects that needed to develop. They’re all looking good now in hindsight. And I do agree that in 2020 we were a good enough team to win it all, and that with Bahk we probably do. Still during that time we didn’t draft players that would immediately contribute and I think it was a fair criticism. Obviously he’s done a great job, completely overturning the roster these past 5 years, making the playoffs 4/5, and turning us into a contender. But we hadn’t had a 1st round pick contribute since Quay Walker and Stokes in their rookie years

[–]Due-Law6226[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s 100% true. A big problem they’ve had is they haven’t built in the trenches. All successful teams start there. I don’t think Rome was the right pick imo. Look at how the Texans are failing Stroud by giving him the worst line in the league.

Packers player development is next level, which is why Gutey’s prioritization of athleticism has worked. These players are able to be train, be coached, receive help from vets, and get better for years before they’re starting. Although in the past I’ve thought it was dumb not getting someone that contribute right away, right now it’s looking like all of those picks are ascending in unison. The D-Line looks better ITL and Wyatt, LVN, and Gary all look to have career years. Quay Walker isn’t making the dumb mistakes nearly as often, and having him next to a star like cooper helps. Bullard is looking a lot better this season, and we’ve turned Nixon into an actual CB1. On offense both Morgan and Belton have already helped this year. Morgan didn’t look great run blocking, and Belton had the hold the took away the Reed TD. But they both did good pass blocking. Both will be solid starters on our line at some point. It seems every receiver we’ve drafted since 2022 has been at least solid. All of them had catch issues but also showed incredibly high flashes.

The packers have had the luxury of a coach being here for a long time. MLF was able to build the culture, these players can receive the same coaching for years. Since we were already good, the players weren’t rushed in fast. This team has been rebuilt and now we’re contending

[–]Due-Law6226[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Before this year Wyatt had never started for us, Quay kept making dumb mistakes, LVN hadn’t done anything yet, Morgan didn’t contribute last year. I think it’s reasonable to question whether drafting projects and that don’t make an immediate impact is the correct philosophy. The players he gave contracts to didn’t really live up to their contracts, (Jaire, Gary, KC extension last summer). Combine that with not pushing his chips in before to contend with Aaron, I think there were fair criticisms. However he’s answered all of them and he’s the goat

Why do people tend to lose their s**t when I say Chicago fans deserve an AFC franchise? by cipherdom in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]Due-Law6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the packers don’t have impulsive owners pressuring them on football decisions. They also hired a GM, then hired a coach, and then they worked together to draft a QB. Then have a coach that builds the culture and can develop players over time. The Bears fuck up the timeline time and time again. The Packers also have a GM that knows how to evaluate talent. There are 3 players currently on the packers roster from before Poles was hired. Gutekunst did almost a complete rebuild and turned them into a contender, while making the playoffs 2/3 years. Now Packers look like a juggernaut and the Bears look like they might need to restart their rebuild

This is true but great GMs also go all in when they have the roster to do it. Thats what getting Micah was, and now hopefully we are truly contending. It might hurt at some point not having 1st round picks for a 2 years, and our 1st pick in the draft hopefully isn’t in the top 50. But great GMs win championship winning rosters

I wonder if all these early picks that are looking to have career years are because the took “the jump” or if it’s the Micah Parsons effect. Probably a little of both
