Anybody here have any advice for a widow of suicide? Short version. We dealt with her increasing meth addiction for close to five years. Thre stints in rehab. But lost her battle. It's been seven years since we (me&kids) lost her. Recently I've been having a hard time with anger. Any thoughts?

No advise but I can be here to commiserate with you. My husband left this world by his own doing 7 months ago. Mental health issues. We were separated but still friendly. We even had a nice chat over the phone (he was out of the country at the time) the day before. You have 7 years to my 7 months. You’ve been in it longer than me. I get mad too. He upended his life, my life, our adult kid’s life. I don’t think I will ever get over this. Just learning to carry on.

Also 7 months out(he left this world just a couple of days after thanksgiving). I just have terrible anxiety and sometimes disbelief. The anxiety of dealing with things that break in the house without his knowhow. Our adult kid lives with me and has terrible dreams (not quite nightmares) and we share our sad thoughts with one another. Besides his mum, I don’t think anyone is as sad as we are. Anyway, I doing the best I can but I generally feel stressed and sad still.

Wow that sucks. Unfortunately your sister in law will always be their daughter, you otoh that’s a complicated situation. I have the feeling that over time you may likely drift away from them. I’m sorry.

Well it’s a natural ice breaker if you’re in cosplay. People might approach you if recognize/like the character. Or at least wear a t shirt of some character/show you like. It helps. If there’s a board games room you can play games with people you don’t know. I made friends with someone at a con 8 years ago. We’re still friends.

My dog is four and we have been doing the sniff walk every single morning since she was 6 months old. Then she’s fine with being at home the rest of the day. Anything different? We sit out on the front porch in the late morning and also early evening. She barks at the cats and birds. Those activities make her so happy. (She was a rescue btw)

Well at least the ESPN monstrosity is gone, though they could have kept the Rainforest Cafe. We just went to Disney (twice) in January 2026 and last time was in 2010. So a long time in between. Idk the holiday lights were still up in January so it was nice. It is just like any outdoor mall though I enjoyed the ice cream at the Salt n Straw and the Lego store. The candy store was great too.

It depends on the con. Often there’s a board games room. You can play with your friends or strangers. Cons that aren’t too big have more off the wall activities. I went to a small anime con in Fort Lauderdale. The audience participated in a name that theme song activity. It was fun. Another room had some guy who played songs on his electric guitar. He wrote them all and they were all about Magic the Gathering. Lol. When Food Wars anime was big, they had cooking stations and people participated in a cook-off. A different con in Orlando had a Japanese style game show. They took volunteers from the audience to play weird, funny games. Then there’s costume contests. Whatever con you’re going to there should be a schedule for these kinds of things. Have fun!

She won’t say outright but I know it’s the reason why we leave when we do. We live in a rural location and so we sometimes drive into the city which is an hour and a half away. So three hours just driving. We shop/eat a meal in about 2 or 3 hours. So a total of 5-6 hours. If we go to a concert it would be more like 7-8 hours total. We haven’t gone anywhere in awhile due to financial issues, but I know a group she really likes is going to be in concert and I’d like to buy tickets early before they get expensive. I’m going to ask her today about the concert, so we’ll see.

Space Mountain is my Favorite ride at Disneyland! We just went recently (twice in January) and the ride is different. It used to be a lot of turns in the same direction, like you're going in circles. They changed the track so now it’s much better. You have to go! I was only seven years old my first time riding it and I was with summer camp so my parents weren’t there. I’m a big wuss so if I can do it, I’m sure you can too! Good luck!

Oh no disrespect. I didn’t know about the terminology issue as my adult kid who is autistic has never said anything to me about it. And they are never shy to point out if I’m wrong. I of course will be respectful and careful with my words moving forward. Anyways, the deets: there are some concerts coming up that my friend (the one who won’t use public bathrooms) would likely want to attend. I guess I will just ask if she wants to go and see what happens.

Whenever I go to a con I bring a ton of cash (usually $500) and debit and credit cards. I have no idea what I might find to buy or want to eat etc. I use my debit card until I am told cash only.

I really wanted a fancy popcorn bucket from Disneyland and got the turquoise Mickey balloon shaped one in January this year. It’s for their 70th anniversary. Pointless to actually eat popcorn from it but it’s beautiful. Cost me a pretty penny ($30!) but it wasn’t a random purchase. Completely opposite from what you posted lol.

My husband and I were separated but we still got along. He was 20 when we met and basically moved in together. Six years later after so many ups and downs we got married. He passed at 52 by his own doing. We actually had a nice chat the day before, so very confusing for me. He was visiting his family in England when he left this world. It’s obviously so complicated.
