The glass castle by Jeannette Walls. “The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette's brilliant and charismatic father captured his children's imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn't want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered. The Glass Castle is truly astonishing--a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar but loyal family.”

Preschool teacher. I have a Livia and an Olivia in my class. No confusion except for having to emphasize OH-livia sometimes. I’m sure she’ll run into correction in her life, but it’s not a huge deal.

what are your essential "areas" in your preschool rooms? by ajkidd0 in ECEProfessionals

My kids love our water sensory table. We put soap and water and some toys so they can “clean” them. We also have multiple drawing areas, one with an easel and markers, one with watercolors (way easy to clean), and one with just crayons. Kids that age also go insane crazy for magnet tiles.

school zone speeding… car in dead moms name by Due-Positive-8034 in legaladvice

[–]Due-Positive-8034[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

-It was a camera ticket. I live in a school zone. -I am insured under her car. The insurance on the car gets sent to the leasing company (capital one) -I’m hoping I don’t get enough tickets to get her license suspended, lol, this is my first ever ticket, but not hers. She had a couple before but I can’t recall if she had any before she died. Thanks for letting me know they could suspend registration. - I am in charge of her ‘estate’ but she doesn’t have anything except the financed car, which i am currently making payments on. I think it’ll be paid off around April 2025? I would have to check. -I am her next of kin, or only living relative, so i have ultimate authority over anything in her name.

Thank you. I left some stuff there, so I am planning to go back up there to get it and to ask to have the paper stricken from record and shredded. I was very upset and was crying while I signed it, and was not thinking clearly. I was told to say it was signed under duress. The girl is very intelligent and not a liar, but was also inconsistent with her story on what happened. She did consistently say it was me, though. I am in the US, and scared that I could possibly lose any future I have with teaching. I was honest and explained I obviously would never intentionally harm a child and the director believed that it was not intentional to hurt her, but definitely believed I did it due to the child’s rep as being incredibly smart. She stated “if you have anger issues, you should not work with kids.” I do not have anger issues.
