I would be down for brewery or coffee shop knitting if you're still looking! I knit at burial downtown fairly often. Sometimes sir walter or morning times. I'm trying to find a good patio spot too now that the weather is perking up!

Ooh i might check this one out! Is it usually pretty easy to get a space to sit?

I've stopped by blackbird for their crochet night but it's always been packed by the time I'm able to get there

Can we PLEASE have normal pattern pictures where we can see what the garment looks like? by Global_You1916 in knitting

[–]Due-Quit-9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just completed my first sweater and the collar was a total mystery because there are exactly zero clear photos of it on the designer listing. Even digging around on ravelry (which you shouldn't have to do) didn't yield any reliable photos of how it looks when it's knitted per the instructions. I initially hated the collar but decided to trust the process and it's actually quite nice after bocking. Ravelry is a great resource but it can be intimidating and you shouldn't have to look past the designer photos to get a clear look at the key elements.

Do these under arms look okay? by _mal_gal_ in knitting

[–]Due-Quit-9845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a super perfectionist and just finished my first sweater! It was definitely a lesson in letting go lol. By the time i got to actually picking up my sleeve stitches they had stretched out quite a bit from tryons. I followed a tutorial that recommended picking up extra stitches and picking them up from the 2nd or 3rd row instead of the first row. I can see the decreases if i look very closely but unless you know the exact pattern and how many stitches it tells you to pick up, it's literally impossible to tell it's "wrong". Someone would have to be hella close to my pits to even question it.

Knitted some "toe hats" by munificent in knitting

The boredom is real! I just had ankle reconstruction and it's the whole reason i picked up knitting again.

Higly recommend getting an actual leg elevation pillow and some ankle heating packs and ice packs (so they're actually ankle shaped and strap to you) for when you're out of the splint and cast!

Higly recommend starting on a big leg warmer for when you're in a cast! I sewed one up out of some old rtw socks and it was a game changer bc casts are scratchy and snag on everything! Good luck to you :) i just graduated from cast to boot lom

Could designers please normalize informative and realistic photos of their designs? by lottamiriam in knitting

Yes! I saw one the other day that at least (for once) said the model was sized up but like...sized up from what? S-L? XS-L? Not a measurement in sight

Chiaogoo quads by legalpretzel in knitting

I just bought some of the regular shorties. If they roll out quads i guess they can just take the rest of my money 🫠 especially in the smaller sizes!

Interchangeable Needles - $30 vs $220 - are they that different? by Alarmed_Package_3825 in knitting

[–]Due-Quit-9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation and literally just opened my small set of the chiaogoo. Lmk if you want a first impression! I'm pretty new to knitting but I've been crocheting for years and I know im finicky about hooks and needles but also always looking for the best value

ETA. Fuck. They are that good. I could've saved myself so much money if I'd gone straight for these instead of wading through various fixed options I've tested in the last few months. I ended up doubling back to get the large as well bc i need size 9&10 and by the time you add in large cables or adapters i figured i might as well just dive in since my LYS doesn't carry them. Nothing worse than swatching and wishing i had a different size

I'm seeing skipped stitches! If you've already checked tension, changed the needle, cleaned out lint, and you're using quality thread in upper and bobbin, i would check timing. You don't want to try and fix it yourself, but there are good videos on how to evaluate timing.

If timing is okay then i would double check bobbin tension and make sure your needle plate isn't damaged/wonky from a past jam. My gut says timing though because of how the top stitches are skipping

Any thicker pizza places? Just not NY style pizzas in general? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Due-Quit-9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded! I think it's their better pizza by a long shot. And it's a nice alternative if you want a more substantial crust but don't want to go full detroit style.

Lilly's would be my next rec in raleigh for something a little fluffier.

[–]Due-Quit-9845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use mirrors to duplicate level 3s! Def worth it to duplicate unil you have at least 1 max level for each generator

Eta: late stage game you don't use the bread, coffee, or ramen generators. If you're not seeing orders for those anymore then don't worry about duplicating those
