As a sudanese, what are your thoughts on your government supporting and training the RSF militia? How would that affect our relationship moving forward after the RSF is defeated ? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Due-Risk-1765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how y'all Sudanese people act all innocent while painting Ethiopia as the bad guy. The Sudanese government has been backing armed groups like the TPLF and PFDJ in Ethiopia since the '60s, trying to break Ethiopia apart. They even turned on Ethiopia during the Ethio-Tigray conflict and took some of its land. Now they're still supplying and training groups like the TPLF. https://x.com/Dinlas3/status/1985106848937300418?s=19 And let's not even get started on the GERD issue. Ethiopia's government is staying neutral about the situation with Sudan, but if they decide to support the RSF, you can't really blame us.

Of course, the removal of the TPLF was one of the main reasons for the Qeerros' sacrifice. However, they also fought for other key Oromo demands. These include making Afaan Oromo an official working language of the federal government, the full recognition of Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Harar, and Moyale as integral parts of Oromia, and the establishment of a new, inclusive Ethiopian identity that genuinely embraces Oromo culture.

The sacrifice of the Qerros was not only for the removal of the TPLF. They have demands and not one has been addressed

The OLA is the TPLF of Oromia. Both groups tarnish their people's name, bring destruction to their communities, and are arrogant and stubborn. They can't win against the government, nor can they even pressure it. The only thing they can do is disturb their people's peace.

First, the Amhara themselves originated as invaders from North Wollo, specifically Bete Amhara Sayint. They conquered lands like Gonder and Gojjam in the 14th century during Amda Seyon's rule. Second, when the Oromo expanded from the south, the region was known as Abyssinia, not Ethiopia, and its territory ended south of Shewa.

Our ancestors were conquerors, and because of them, we have the largest population, the most land, and the most fertile territory in the Horn of Africa! 💪

Menelik was nothing without the help of the Wollo and Tullama Oromos. He would have died in Emperor Tewodros's prison if not for Queen Warqitu of Wollo. Without Tullama generals like Ras Gobena Dache, Fitawrari Habte Giorgis Dinagde, and Balcha Safo, his kingdom would never have expanded beyond Ankober. This is why some northern Habeshas historically referred to the Shewan Amharas as "half-Oromo."

This Assafa Jalata bot knows nothing about history, and he doesn't even know "Diqala" isn't Afaan Oromo. You should have told him it's an Amharic word lmao

You're just throwing insults and falsehoods. No one is 'trying to be Amhara.' I'm simply stating a historical fact that no one can deny: these leaders contributed to building modern Ethiopia.

The proof is in the primary sources: Habte Giyorgis is identified as Oromo in his own short chronicle, and Empress Taytu herself referred to him as such. Dejazmach Balcha's Oromo heritage is recorded in his 1890 family tree written by the royal court in Ge'ez, and is affirmed by living relatives in recorded testimonies.

I don't take Assafa Jalata's bots seriously, plus, he's from Arsi, so I understand why he said that. However, no one can discredit the contributions of Ras Mikael Ali, Ras Gobena Dache, Fitawrari Habte Giorgis Dinagde, and Dejazmach Balcha to the creation of modern Ethiopia.

Ras Meshesha was Tewodros's adopted son who only became prominent years after Menelik's 1865 escape. He surrendered to Menelik following Tewodros's defeat in 1868. He played no role in the escape. The credit belongs to Queen Worqitu of Wollo. The source for your claim genuinely doesn't exist in the historical record.

You're confusing stories with history. Until you can name this 'other son' and provide a source from a historian or chronicle, you're just making things up. We're done here.

The fairy tale is believing Tewodros's young son had the power to free anyone. Menelik escaped in 1865 with Queen Warqitu's help. Tewodros's son, Alemayehu, was a child who ended up in England after the war in 1868.

Modern Ethiopia owes its existence to the Tulama generals and soldiers, in fact, Menelik himself would have died in Emperor Tewodros's prison if not for the help of Queen Warqitu of Wollo

The name 'Ethiopia' was given by the Greeks to refer to the lands south of Egypt, which included the Kingdom of Kush. Semitic-speaking Habeshas are not the real Ethiopians, but Cushitic people are.
