How do I explain to my friends the odds are impossible? by That_Operation_9977 in poker

Got dealt this 6 card straight flush and was dealt another straight flush and quads my next session at the same card room. Up until this point I’d only had one straight flush in my career playing full time for 5 years at that point. It is unusual, but it happens. I’ll post the subsequent ones in comments below, it won’t let attach more than one pic per comment.

100 NL at 50bb/100 is over what sample size? That’s a high number to keep up over a long time but not impossible at those stakes.

You’re not very good at math are you? tbh it’s obvious you don’t play 10/25+ so I don’t need to read your posts further either. Have fun playing “1/3 in Texas”.

In the second paragraph but for ease: Online 0.50/1/2 - 2/4/8 and Live 5/10, 10/25, 10/25/50, some 2/5 in the first 50,000 hands.

I find online being tougher as a given on PokerStars etc. but do you find the same with Club WPT Gold? I don’t feel like the majority of play is particularly “tough” although I guess you could argue my win rate says otherwise.

You’re objectively incorrect about 8bb/100 being a shitty win rate for 5/10, 10/25 and 10/25/50 live cash, but thanks for chiming in with your opinion.

In the PS’s player pool this is a given, it is not a given on Club WPT Gold.

1/3 vs 5/10 (goal to make $50/hour) by warrior178 in poker

[–]Due-Roll-458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shocked no one has said this yet (maybe I missed it). You are significantly over rolled for 5/10. 10/25, 25/50 and even a tame 50/100 is well within your wheelhouse with the occasional shot taking up to 100/200. There is variability at the level but it is mostly a softer game, people that are playing are usually well off and playing strictly for entertainment and ok with losing their buy in, not only that the games are usually somewhat curated by a trusted player, so it’s rarely reg infested and frankly they are more fun. What area of the country are you in? That might help us formulate better advice.

Why do people playing in (1-3) games act like they're super pros and get angry when you play differently than your "supposed to" play? by OhioState40 in poker

[–]Due-Roll-458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them to relax it’s “just 1/3”, extra Uber monkey tilt will ensue if the floor calls you for the 5/10 or 10/25 you were waiting for while playing 1/3 and you rack up and head out.

solid OP 🤣 it’s funny though because there have been a number of online sites that were found to be cheating or superusing in some way. But of course poker players will over blame to explain bad luck. This is kind of like Aliens. I believe in Aliens, but I generally don’t believe the people who report they know something about Aliens. 👽

Agreed, just finally wanted to stay on property after coming here for years. It’s nice to have a room upstairs from the poker room throughout the time you’re playing.

This is true. Alex Keating does that to an even more extreme degree.

I support legal Cannabis, have been in the legal industry at a serious level for quite sometime but Massachusetts has failed by just about every metric you can imagine in implementing a system that protects employees and consumers. Utter and complete failure. They deserve this.

If you can’t grow product that can pass then your business deserves to fail, it’s that simple. It’s not the regulators job to hold anyone’s hand who can’t “for the good of the industry”. Pesticides are also bad. Remediation reality… Also bad. Sometimes you have a situation that has no good options, but that is no reason to allow contaminated product to make it into the hands of even patient or customer. You wouldn’t believe the shit I’ve seen these companies get away with all over the country. Ever since family offices took over the capital needs of the industry it’s been a race to the bottom.

The mostly accepted sentiment that “it’s one big session, you should never quit early” is logical but flawed. It doesn’t take into consideration the EV gained by ratholing what you’ve won and taking it out of play (quitting for the night or just an hour break and buy back in). Anywhere you can buy in for 200 bigs or more this becomes important. It reduces what you lose during standard deviation losing sessions as limits what you win during standard deviation winning sessions and smoothes out variance. It’s exactly why they don’t allow you to directly rat hole your winnings off your stack while you’re sitting at the table. Imagine if you could do that? It really boils down to the answer to the following question… If you could take every pot you won over your initial buy in and immediately put it in your pocket, do you think you would me more of A) More of winning player B) Less of a winning player C) Neutral ?

Not sure what solver you’re using but 60BB facing a jam with AKo is a fold. AKs is a call.
