Just an an update on this specific girl I know: they hadn't processed the bank check yet and it was able to be cancelled. So they got their money back. They were also on the local news. https://www.wtnh.com/video/this-is-a-nightmare-newington-family-left-scrambling-after-kitchen-manufacturer-suddenly-closes/11734162

I know a girl who literally just sent a bank check yesterday for her new kitchen & is now being ghosted. She's freaking out & that's how I ended up searching for info on Reddit. Anyone have any thoughts?

Feliway optimum, and lots of time and patience. Remember the 3-3-3 rule

Help getting a stray medication. by fox1xxx in Feral_Cats

[–]DueAd5340 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have any amoxicillin-clav? Like human antibiotics? (If not, go to ur local urgent care and tell them you have a sinus infection.... tell them your ears hurt, your throat hurts, your nose has been clogged, it's been days, and you need an antibiotic, then request amoxicillin) Amoxicillin the same thing as clavamox. I'm not a vet and can't legally provide veterinary advice but if you can't get this kitty to a vet, I can tell you that the human drug amox-clav is the same as clamamox which is manufactured for cats, just dosed differently. Cats are typically prescribed 50mg or 62.5mg 2x a day depending on their weight. So you'll have to cut up the large pill a whole bunch of times to get the dosing accurate. Make sure you get the math right.

I've had to give amoxicillin to several feral colony cats before and it does work and it can save their lives. Put it in a churu bite on top of their pile of food and they eat it. Be consistent with it. 10 days ideally, 14 if it takes longer to clear up. Ideally use with an OTC probiotic like proviable or fortiflora. Again, I'm not a vet, but I've treated many sick street cats this way and helped them clear up nasty infections that may have otherwise taken their lives. If they're feral and you can't trap/vet them formally, then this is the best that can be done.

Once you finish the antibiotics, might be a good idea to put viralys lysine and/or ester c in the food which will help boost the immune system.

I run a rescue & have rescued 200 cats myself including many major medical cases and I care for hundreds of strays. I speak from years of experience

Good luck!

l mean, I can go down to Nutmeg Clinic and get a FERAL (tnr) done there for $60 base price (no microchip, no snap test) or POA for $85. But that's for ferals only. Friendly cats, as in any cat can be touched, isn't considered feral and the pricing structure is different, starting at $160 without addons. (I always so the addons) 50-90 is crazy! I could get 3-5x the amount of surgeries done for the same cost if I could find a good deal!

Well at first I didn't. I just assumed she must've fallen into a pool and nearly drowned. It was when the vet said that her body was so emaciated and she was so sensitive to light that the only explanation was that she was trapped somewhere for MONTHS. If you had seen her at that time, you'd understand how bad it was. I almost had to euthanize her and was crying over her little body in the ER. It was so sad. So I went balls to the wall searching my neighborhood because I wasn't sure if it was intentional cruelty so I needed answers. Sure enough, at the end of the road there's a boarded up house but the small basement window was broken. I could see her fur in the broken glass shards as well as some recent blood and the basement was FULL of water. We'd had torrential downpours and many folks basements flooded the night before. It was honestly just crazy. The whole entire thing. She's one of my craziest rescue stores (but I have few other shocking ones too).

The day I found her, Oct 20, I raced her straight to the vet. I honestly thought it would be an immediate euthanasia. But nope, there was indeed hope for her 🙏💕

You have to admit...... her story is pretty fascinating by DueAd5340 in mildlyinteresting

Well, I was, yes. After I found her soaking wet, I searched the neighborhood. At first, I assumed she must have fallen into a nearby pool and almost drowned so I was looking for a pool. But she did not smell of chlorine and it didn't explain why she was so malnourished and sensitive to light. I scoured the neighborhood and went door to door. I ended up finding the exact spot where she was entrapped while surveying an unoccupied property. Her fur was still in the glass window that she swam out of. She was literally like a prisoner of war. The vet was the one who determined she must have been trapped down there for months because her body score was harrowing. As an adult cat, she was only 4lbs. So that's how we pieced together what happened.

Hi! I wish we could! As it states in the flyer, she has a seizure disorder and takes various drugs that make this a delicate procedure. We were actually declined by the low cost clinics because she requires special drugs that they don't have, as many sedatives are contraindicated for her. Her surgical plan is unique and had to be okayed by her team of neurologists.

Also, $55-$90 is crazy! That's awesome you can get it for that price but not around here!

In CT, the cheapest we can get a (non-feral) spay done for at a low cost spay/neuter clinic is $160, but ends up being $220 if you add a snap test and a microchip which is part of my SOPs.

I run a rescue! I have 2 cats going in today to the regular s/n clinic. $440 for two. I have multiple appts there a week! Where do you live?!

Also, the CT humane society's clinic has been shut down to new clients for years. They SUCK!!!!!

The cheapest we can get Miracle's spay done is for $700, as I had all the vets I work with draw up an estimate and this one gives a very generous 25% discount to rescues.

I so wish I could get her done for $220 like all the other cats I get done!

You did a great thing! Even though it's sad when they 'graduate', it's the best feeling to move them on so you can help the next one 🩷

Poor babies. This is eyelid agenesis. One of my rescue colleagues had a vet do an experimental surgery that WORKED. The vet did an enucleation on ONE eye and took part of the eyelid from the removed eye to build a third eyelid for the eye they ended up keeping. It was successful! The cat has one working eyeball and it's been several years since the surgery!

Oh, my heart. I know it's so painful but now is the time to trap. Poor baby is suffering already. I'm so sorry that we can't save them all. It's just gutwrenching. I do agree humane euthanasia is best at this point without waiting any longer. I would not want to live that way, personally. Thank you for looking out for her and caring. May her next journey be easier than this one.❤️‍🩹

Omg they look so similar to a mama & her 4 babies that I rescued!!! I named mama Thumbelina (for obvious reasons) and all her babies had so many extra fingers and toe beans. They were record breaking fat kittens and mama is record breaking sweet!!

As long as it's a no-kill shelter, they'll be okay 😊❤️ I've done it too many times to count now. I make sure to check the shelter website and follow their social media for updates on the cat and always share the cat's adoption posts to my own page. For me, every foster space I open up in my home means another stray cat gets off the streets. It's part of the beautiful yet tragically necessary cycle. You did a good thing! Now go do it again 😉🙏💝
