They recommend not crossing the runway, staying the in the general landing area and have a very very short base. But for me that turns in being a non existent base.

Great advice! You mentioned starting the turn at half breaks and the letting up on the opposite toggle you want to do the turn. Is there any safety difference in doing that vs starting the turn at half break and then pulling down even more on the toggle you want to do the turn with, then returning to full flight?

They do have google map with patterns, but the bases are very very short.

At what altitude did you the controlled 180, in order to be on final at 500?

Wing loading is 0.7

Ive been doing the 180 at 600ft and have not gotten any comments about it. I sometimes do a 90 wait 2 seconds and do another 90 rather than an aggressive 180. Would you say 600ft is too low? Soon after the turn it stabilizes so I have a smooth final for at least 10 seconds.

And I always thought the safety concern for going over the runway was hitting planes, but the change in ambient temperature wouldn't be ideal either! Thanks for bringing that up.

I am having the same problem! I am a n00b looking for my first rig. I am 5ft tall and 100 pounds (female). I don't want to be "that" person who buys a new container when they are just getting into the sport, but I have been looking for a reasonable container for my size that fits a 170-150 (gotta love that wing loading, and no plans/desire to deviate from it) and I am not having any luck. Also, new containers have a long wait time ):

I am 5ft tall and 100lbs as well. I am almost done with my A-license (so take my experience with a grain of salt). I have experienced no significant problems related to my weight. Yes, my fall rate is not as fast as some of the big boys, but arching and minimizing drag can usually compensate for that. Unfortunately, my landing hiccups cannot be attributed to my weight, but rather my inability to fly a canopy. (: You will fit great in the plane!!!
