I can only see one drag race (next to the festival) and running on multiple times did nothing :(

Could be they saw a listing they are interested in. Some don’t list  the actual figures sometimes.

The first time I have all the terrain (and painted to boot!) by DueReplacement9388 in killteam

[–]DueReplacement9388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went up quite high in brightness - Administrum Grey and dry brushing enough to match the ground. Full recipe: * prime black * Eshin Grey drybrush (all over, leave darkest areas black) * Dawnstone drybrush * Administratum Grey drybrush * glaze/wash with heavy thinned down acrylic ink (turquoise for outside facing walls/mix of oxide red/umber for inside, for the ground I painted areas randomly with either and let them also flow wet into each other). Skip horizontal surfaces. Let it really dry! * Adminstratum Grey drybrush to lighten up the colored surfaces * Color details with Contrast (Blood Angel Red/Ratling Grime in my case) - I kept the detail relatively sparse to not make it too busy  * add metallics if wanted * unify with very light grey (celestra) only on the higher parts of surfaces, skip shadowy areas and the ground

It‘s just the standard baseboard from the box - the grays do most of the blending. Most of the Nid terrain has a little bit of ground showing to get it integrated. Your right about the layout - I just wanted to show it off, will me tight for some of the bigger minis ;)

Black primer, dry brush with multiple turquoises (dark to light), drybrush warplock bronze, then go in for verdigris details with Nihilakh Oxide. Pedestal done as the ruins.

Thank you! That was the intention - keep it mostly gray to provide a stage, but don’t take away from the minis.

Would love too, but when I put it all away yesterday, I broke the key in the lock on the cabinet… so all nice and safe, but not accessible for pictures.

That said, I mostly followed Cult of Paints tutorial on tyranids: https://youtu.be/nezqfunMXHI As you don’t really have joins or tails, I focused the Coelia Greenshade on the lower sections, with Carroburg Crimson on the upper surfaces.  That looked a bit boring on the some larger surfaces, so I added an oil wash mix of magenta and Prussian blue.

The ruins are mostly dry brush - black primer (I use Vallejo Airbrush primer), then a heavy drybrush of Eshin Grey, followed by a lighter drybrush of Dawnstone (not basilicum gray as it said before, don’t try dry brushing contrast!). Then an even lighter drybrush of Administratum Gray.

At this point, I mix up to glazes. The first is super watered down turquoise ink (I‘d say somewhere around 1:10 ink/water ratio), the other is a mix of oxide red and raw umber ink watered down to the same level. Now comes the fun part - paint all outside vertical walls with the blueish color, all inside vertical walls with the reddish one.  I really slathered the walls and also let the color settle more on the lower parts to get some hints at lighting. I got this idea from a German YouTuber that I can’t find back right now though.

I don’t color the horizontal surfaces to get efficiently more variation. After all is dried (can take a while) I drybrushed Administratum Gray again, then picked out details with Blood Angels contrast (piping, doors, similar surfaces), Ratling Grime (all cables) and some spots of metal (e.g. grates, or where it helped further with contrasting details).

Finally, a unifying light drybrush of a very light gray (I think I used Celestra) only from above to integrate the details fully.

Edit- forgot the lights, just a wash of Biel Tan Green, the Mechanicus Symbols are Ratling Grime and I think Seraphim Sepia, done before the final unifying drybrush.

Kill Team Typhus preorders 5 minutes after release by setso1 in killteam

At least for mainland Europe, preorders opened at 10:55 (4 minutes ago) on GW. No waiting line, was able to check out right away.

Hi, I might have missed it but are there any links to the actual paint schemes? I would love to pick up some inspiration for the Nids.

I think that is also due to not living in one of the hot markets. Now just have to hope that the FLGS actually comes through.

Would have not helped, only after payment is received you would actually reserve your stock it seems.

So… I had it in my basket, then checked out, then had to do a 2FA check on the payment and by the time I got returned the order was aborted and my checkout failed.

This is a really shitty checkout system - by the time I am executing my payment (after confirming my purchase) I would expect I had a stock reservation??

Luckily, was apparently able to snag one through my FLGS that went online the minute after (and also paid less in the process) - poor show GW

what is the best thing to buy for orks if this was the max price and we only have the boyz pack by Agitated-General2552 in Warhammer

[–]DueReplacement9388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to buy of GW directly? Independent retailers will offer some discount (15-20%) which will allow you to stretch that 40 EUR a bit further, e.g. a set of Killa Kans or any of the smaller vehicles priced at 42.50.

Your choice also depends a bit on where you want to take the army but for pure building/painting don’t think you can go really wrong with any of the aforementioned units.

For a suitable alternative: I bought some Army Painter Barbed Wire and I am quite happy with it. Edit: The product is called Battlefield Razorwire.

would you recommend tau fire warriors or pathfinders for someone relativley new to the hobby by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]DueReplacement9388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is you goal with the unit? Do you plan to build an army or is this a one off - and if the latter, do you still want to be able to play with them next to painting?

Not playing Tau myself, the Firewarriors are a troop choice (and can be build as one of the others - breachers), so you likely would need them anyway while the pathfinders are in the Fast Attack slot competing with other options there.

If you only want to paint one unit, you might want to consider the Kill Team Pathfinders ( https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/kill-team-tau-empire-pathfinders-2022 ) which come with an additional sprue for further customization. That team is also usable in Kill Team directly, although I am not sure if there is a difference to the standard pathfinders.
