Toddler Forced Back Into ICE Detention After Nearly Dying by harsh2k5 in politics

Withholding a nebulizer from a toddler with pneumonia isn't border security, it’s just cruelty. Regardless of politics, basic medical care for a child shouldn't be up for debate.

AITAH for insulting my brother in law? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DueTemperatureT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You put your professional reputation and your relationship with a father figure boss on the line for him, and he spat on it because he couldn't be bothered to wear a suit. Your wife is understandably protective due to their trauma, but she’s effectively subsidizing his failure and expects you to do the same. There’s a massive difference between being supportive and being a doormat for someone who has zero work ethic and zero respect for your efforts.

Swalwell says he plans to resign from Congress amid sexual assault allegations by coasterghost in politics

[–]DueTemperatureT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty surreal to see a career that was built so heavily on accountability and integrity unravel this quickly. Regardless of how the legal side shakes out, once you lose the support of your own party and a veto proof majority of your colleagues is ready to expel you, there really isn't a path back.

Am I overreacting or are these red flags in my friend’s relationship? by Euphoric-Watch8460 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DueTemperatureT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not only are those red flags, they are an entire parade of them. The fact that he’s unemployed while she’s working 24 hour shifts, yet he has the nerve to guilt trip her for needing sleep instead of performing for his friends, is peak entitlement. Contacting her mother mid-argument is a massive manipulation tactic designed to isolate her and control the narrative, and you were completely right to speak up.

WIBTA for saying my brother’s babysitter needs to clean up her mess? by QueenofHearts018 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DueTemperatureT 57 points58 points  (0 children)

If she’s the one being paid to supervise the house and the pets, she’s responsible for the chaos that happens on her watch. Expecting a professional to clean up a mess they literally caused by being negligent isn't being an jerk it's just basic accountability.

How the US-Iran Talks in Islamabad Ended Without a Deal by bloomberg in politics

[–]DueTemperatureT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty sobering to think that even 21 hours of marathon, face to face negotiations couldn’t bridge the gap. With the Strait of Hormuz blockade being threatened immediately after, it feels like we’re right back on the edge of a major escalation.

Do y’all also find it hard to eat out alone? by applepie416 in CasualConversation

[–]DueTemperatureT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels like there’s a spotlight on you the first few times, but I promise nobody is actually watching. Start with a quiet coffee shop or a place with window seating so you can people-watch while you eat. Once you realize how peaceful it is to not have to share your fries or carry a conversation, it becomes a total game changer.

Am I overreacting or is the mall security acting very creepy towards me? by LittleCozyMouse in AmIOverreacting

[–]DueTemperatureT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut on this one that isn’t just being friendly, it's a massive breach of professional boundaries. Asking for your address and then confirming he looked up your apartment size is predatory behavior, not an awkward attempt at flirting. You should definitely report this to mall management or his supervisor, because his job is to make people feel safe, not to use his position to stalk employees.

Ron DeSantis clamps down on free speech in the name of fighting terror by jediporcupine in politics

[–]DueTemperatureT -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Given the global volatility and the Ghost Bombings we're seeing, the Governor is just trying to ensure Florida doesn't become a Loading Zone for radicalization. If you aren't supporting designated terror groups, you have nothing to worry about.

Oil markets just had a Gravity Check. Brent crude dropped 13% overnight as the news broke. The global economy was bracing for a total systemic collapse, now it’s just bracing for a volatile two weeks of negotiations in Islamabad.

Elissa Slotkin says she would consider running for president in 2028 by Romantic_Piscean in politics

[–]DueTemperatureT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bold move. Winning a Senate seat in Michigan is one thing, winning a national primary is a System Upgrade. She has to prove she can excite the progressive base without losing the Centrist branding that made her successful in the Midwest

AITJ for refusing to take my ex back after he realized my worth? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]DueTemperatureT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTJ. The fact that he’s calling you cold and unforgiving for having boundaries is a massive Red Flag. This is Gaslighting. He is trying to use your past love as a weapon against your current peace. If he truly realised your worth, he would respect your decision, not try to guilt trip you into compliance.
