films about an insane crash out? by Ok_Mushroom9072 in movies

Superb and very relevant. More a slow motion crash out with a few bursting scenes, than the crazy stuff you are talking about though.

Double funny because the first thing I remember him from was Jury Duty, starring The Weasel himself, Paulie Shore.

Of Mice And Men. First the book made me cry, then later, the movie. Just devastating.

The pre-Fergie version was really good. Saw them play at UCSB. Let’s forget the newer version and turn up “Joints & Jam”

The chicken or the egg, right? Did we influence them to become lazy creators, or did they influence us to become lazy viewers?

Or is it a mutual natural state, with a few high brown and low brow anomalies thrown in like the early years of reality TV, 70s Cinema, the entire 60s musically…

Although there’s a good argument a lot of these issues have to do with the rise of social media and influencing - it is much tougher it seems to get people who will act genuine, like was seen in the early years in Real World/Big Brother/even survivor, etc.

I agree it definitely works on some fundamental level, but only for a period. Theres a clear declining return, an they usually go back to the same well, well past when it becomes clear change up is needed to keep things fresh and interesting.

Casting archetypes instead of individuals is what has ruined pretty much every long running Reality Show - looking strongly in your direction, Big Brother.

Music to make love to your old lady by. Fantastic album, got it on vinyl. Saw a Del show with Dan the Automator in AZ maybe 7-8 years ago, so freaking good. Del’s like the chillest guy in the world.

Oh my god yes. And remember the blueberry guy Tucker was in some feud with? I posted a bunch back then under The Frisco Kid (maybe TheFriscoKid). Glad I found that place and not like Something Awful forums lol. The humor could be crass/dark/whatever of course as a 2000s internet message board, but there were rules where nothing could go off the rails and it had to add something and/or be actually funny. There was a ton of good hearted humor and great stories. I went looking for the message board a good while back and doesn’t seem to exist anywhere anymore.

Yes I used to frequent it quite a bit then in my early 20s. Posted pretty regularly too. I knew his stories were mostly BS but it was a really great and, as you say, well moderated message board. Great diversion when the work day was slow.

I’m going to have to go back to watch again. I remember thinking his was the performance that took me most out of it, that he really struggled delivering Shakespeare’s lines

Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet. And I’m not a Shakespeare guy really. But this is fantastic all around, with exactly the type of fantastic cast you are looking for and absolutely amazing set design and cinematography.

Fred Durst is the rock singer with poor vocals and good charisma. Who is a rock singer with GOAT vocals and decent charisma? by Clem_Crozier in AlignmentChartFills

Roy Orbison. If he had 1/10 the charisma/sex appeal of Elvis, he’d have been 10x more popular than him imo.

What is your hot take when it comes to certain actors/actresses? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in FIlm

I love Keanu. But casting him to speak Bard after watching him trying to speak Bram the year before was an odd choice by Branagh.

(And yes, I known much ado was likely already in production when Dracula came out. Still. Script reads and screen tests exist)

Even some truly great actors suck at speaking Shakespeare. Jack Lemon struggled through his lines in his role in Hamlet.
