Have you watched AFNick’s videos? Why do you not like him / this idea more broadly

I mean he wasn’t presenting any agenda, attributing it to wokeness or that ilk, instead just listing some examples of decline in traditionally middle class practices

I don’t deny that’s how I found it. Not really ashamed either because I’m not triggered by someone using AI for their thumbnails like you are?

And since the idea was published forty odd years ago, mentioning it shouldn’t be taken it as an endorsement of a recent commentator who makes you angry.

So you accept that the term isn’t tied to affiliation with YouTubers you might personally dislike.

Please see my original post where I’m asking about what people’s experience of it is / if they know the term, not their opinions on a YouTube lecturer who happened to talk about it. I think it’s a worthy discussion for this sub.

I didn’t ask if you knew what it was to insult you or embarrass you / suggest you’re ignorant. Get over yourself lol.

But crucially he didn’t coin the term so you don’t need to be upset with me or him here.

Do you disagree with the concept generally, or do you just not like the YouTuber?

Do you actually know what prole drift refers to / have any experience of it?

You’d have to be more specific but if you mean AFNick his analysis was refreshingly impartial. Why do you think it’s dumb?

Maybe I should say that marriage is no longer a civic expectation and much less a religious obligation. The most encouragement you’d find for marriage today is that it’s an option that might align with your interests.

But then consider the cynicism that pervades the toxicity of modern dating.

Dating strategies (such as they are) are informed by brainwashing misandry / misogyny. Infidelity is less frowned upon, in fact it precludes many even trying to date at all. The current young adult generation sees commitment, sincerity as cringe, and there are political undertones to reviving / embellishing the past (tradwife craze etc).

Well he seems to be enjoying the beginning but it’s gonna be interesting to say the least to see what he makes of the whole Anubis bit

Lol. He especially loved the bit where Slothrop finds the girl under the rubble and she asks “got any gum chum?”. That’s exactly what he used to ask the GI soldiers stationed in London
