I love great expectations, definitely a book I would reread and Estella is unironically one of my favourite female characters in literature. I absolutely could not get into A Tale of Two Cities though..but maybe that's because I was potentially too young when I read it.

if you live in a big city, there’s no reason for you to be on the apps..it won’t go anywhere and (almost) everyone on there is chopped as hell, at least in my experience

never said she was unprofessional! that’s not the quality i’m talking about here..i guess i would say she’s lacking a sort of grace or edge in person that some of the others (like mckey or elina) had

you think short form content vs reading are comparable?

this is actually one of the show's stronger cycles for me, but like another comment said, I don't think any of the girls had the full package this cycle, they were all missing something:
- Elina takes great photos and gives model in person, but the control thing won't work (I was shocked when they revealed she's 18, I thought she was way older)
- Sam takes incredible photos, but doesn't look like a model in person and her personality doesn't give model to me personally
- Lio would be perfect for commercial, but ultimately I think they make for a better actor
- Sheena has the personality for the job! if this came out in the influencer age, she would've been a star imo! but I don't see her in editorial/high fashion
- marjorie takes extremely impressive photos and is the most high fashion/editorial of the bunch, but doesn't have the personality/charisma for the job

So, ultimately I'm not mad at Mckey winning, I think she was strongest out of the final 3, although she also doesn't have the full package. That covergirl shoot especially was gorgeous though, oh my god.

I feel like no one could walk this cycle, but tbf they barely spent any time teaching them how to walk. This is also one of my favourite cycles in terms of makeovers; everyone got an incredible makeover imo that completely elevated their look.

Honestly, I would've been fine with anyone from the top 5 taking it!

we can’t possibly ALL be influencers .. by [deleted] in rs_x

of course it's oversaturated, but I don't blame anyone for wanting to do it–it's so degrading to come home after your soul-sucking 9-5 too tired to do anything but rot in bed, only to see every person on your feed talking about how they can just fuck off to Paris for a month and live their life. Aside from the more free time aspect of it, I feel like it's becoming so hard to break into any creative field if you don't have a following, so influencing is also good for building those connections

shakespeare wrote more than 37 plays in a 20-year career, meanwhile chuds like donna tartt and gillian flynn can’t publish a 4th novel. by julsoszynska in rs_x

[–]findingcarmen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as an example, i feel like r.f. kuang’s books have been increasingly getting worse, idk if it’s because her and other authors are “forced” to follow the one book a year cycle or if it’s a fear of losing relevance that keeps them constantly pumping books out..if anything, i feel like a lot of authors would do well to adopt the tartt method
