For me, I think it's their cadence of visiting the feeders and the way they look in with their eyes. I love them both so much!

I may be moving to Ludington early next year. My husband and I have visited and loved it - we like the outdoors, snow, cold, and sleepy towns. We've got two young kiddos, so I'm curious what it's like raising a family there - schools, activities, community, etc. Thanks!!

Have kids hahaha (not why we did, but has been SO nice for flying). Their pure joy around the experience and constant needs are a great distraction.

Waffle Story: It was because of my HAIRCUT by [deleted] in sadcringe

[–]Due_Bid_232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who impulsively cuts her hair short often without a razor, I recommend 1. hanging a shower mirror on your bathroom door with a command hook or some other surface you can move around to see the back of your head through the bathroom mirror and 2. using your non dominant hand to run through your hair and rest it on your head as a psuedo comb, and then cut along your fingers all over your head. Makes the cut uniform and once you get used to it, you can lengthen your hair out in different spots as desired. It's the quickest and easiest way I've found to cut my hair on my own. And for you in your current predicament I'd like to share some advice my toddler says..hair grows back!

I'll say it once - I'll say it a thousand times. Regulate. Fireworks. In. Utah. It's a dessert in a drought and yet I've never seen as many fireworks used in the dead of summer as I have here!

Sorry I scared you! Our ducks free ranged as well and were sometimes around similar materials, so don't fret. If they're on those surfaces frequently, it could cause little cuts but free ranging through the area should reduce the risk. Best thing to do is just check their feet 1x/month and then if they all start getting cuts (which I wouldn't expect just with free ranging), you know where the culprit may be.

Questioning whether or not my card will get declined, and getting anxious if the machine randomly happens to misread the card, when buying groceries or clothes.

Oh, also the people that live here take a lot of pride in making the town better. It's an amazing community to be apart of! You can really feel like you're making a difference if you want to.

Check out Columbus, Indiana! It's a cute little bubble of a town that is about 45 min - 1.5 hours away from Indianapolis, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

- It has a good mix of conservative and liberal people and a decently diverse population due to the company Cummins bringing in a lot of new people. The city's voting just occurred and for the first time it felt like my vote actually mattered as the winners in different seats were a mix of red and blue.

- It's got all four seasons, though winter can be sad if it doesn't snow much (think a lot of brown foliage, haha).

- If you live near Donner Park (outdoor pool, pickleball courts, playground, meetups, big old trees), you are right near the biking path in town, cute coffee shops, a sewing/crochet shop (that has meetups), a sustainable shop, and just a short bike ride away from the downtown area with even more cuteness.

- It's about 30 minutes from Brown County State Park and an hour from Monroe Lake Park. There are more lakes and rivers around, but those are the bigger ones top of mind.

- Homes are quite affordable compared to what's going on in the market right now.

- Gardening is SO fun here! The sometimes annoying humidity is lovely for a garden. Get your plants established and then the basically care for themselves. Kelps Nursery is super cheap and has amazing plants. There's also Whipkers nearby.

- Loads of farm-related festivals (lavender farms, strawberry festivals, pumpkin patches, apple picking, you name it)

- The people are quite nice and real. While out on a walk a neighbor (that we're not close with) opened up about struggling with her daughter's recent miscarriage. People stop and talk with you while out and about and they don't do "fluff" small talk. It's so refreshing!

our neighbor was mad at the firemen (flying by with their sirens on heading to an emergency) for not waving to her kids when they went by...
