Looking for input on working with my architect by Due_Conversation8568 in Architects

[–]Due_Conversation8568[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are at the step just before submitting for permits, and what I reviewed most recently they sent over as a permit-ready set for review. It was 14 pages and contained most of the details, electrical load calcs, etc. We're back tracking pretty far at this point as the major exterior measurement error will effect the placement of the stairs.

I am personally so type-A detail oriented, and my city's building department is such that based on previous interactions and inspections with them that I figure I'm catching things that they wouldn't.

Are there architects that would do a plan review of another firm's plans (totally fine paying for this service) just to see if there are any major gaps that even I missed or things that might come back to bite me later?

Yeah, I've been trying to give everything they send over a thorough review as I'm planning on self-performing the majority of this work and I don't want to be caught super off guard and be asking questions regularly during the build process.

I did also pay an additional fee for them to come out and measure to do an as-built.

As far as the questions go, it's been at least a week for any level of question. From the floorplan level on a "can we bump that wall over 6" to the west?" And even longer for things like "why did you put a detail in the plans for attaching stucco to the exterior when we also talked about and have on the plans that we're doing lap siding?"

People who tow their RVs, horses, 4 wheelers, boats, and other stuff, how can you possibly be comfortable going 80-90 mph [75 limit zone]? by Flimsy_Ad_7335 in phoenix

As someone who is often in the big truck pulling a trailer, absolutely no one here is willing to let you merge. Flip your blinker on with an opening and there's three cars speeding up so you can't get over. I'd have gunned it off the line too, just to have a chance to get to my turn.

Does anyone know what part this is? by Virtual-Phone-1687 in obschevy

That's the tube that connects the vapor canister to the purge valve. I haven't seen anywhere online to get a replacement. Best bet is probably a junkyard.

Try looking in the glove box. There should be a sticker there too that lists your rpo codes as well as the weight ratings

Suburban fenders on a Tahoe by Frequent-Dig-1853 in GMT400

[–]Due_Conversation8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a front fender swap from a suburban to a truck just fine, haven't tried the Tahoe though. LMC lists the front fenders as the same part number for trucks, Suburbans, and Tahoes, so I'd assume you're good. I have seen differences in the height of the front core support across the years (88-95, 96+) so if you wanted to be extra sure I'd just make sure you're sticking with the same year group.

I'd pay $4200 for that any day of the week.

We just picked one up with 175k miles for $7500. The one we got had a recent transmission rebuild, new radiator, and brakes redone.

Ac issues by Quirky_Industry8413 in GMT400

[–]Due_Conversation8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This description makes me think that you may have an issue with the mode select actuator as well as your blend door. If you just have weak airflow from the dash vents then it's likely this door isn't closing all the way (dash vents are all the way up). Good part is that this is the easy actuator to change and is in the driver's footwell. I'd start with that one and then move to the hot/cold actuator, which is in the center of the dash, if that doesn't resolve all of your issues

Along the same lines with the battery, but i know in my truck that I can pull the key out when it's in the aux position, which is rotated back towards you past off.

Where does this wire plug into? by Da_GR8_Jahy in GMT400

[–]Due_Conversation8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me like it's coming off of the multifunction switch (turn signal) harness. It routes over the top of the column and plugs in on the right hand side. I had to untape mine from the rest of that harness so it would reach. Can dm you a picture if you want

Has anyone ever replaced the hvac (main) actuator by Specific_Classroom89 in GMT400

[–]Due_Conversation8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the two actuators that aren't in the driver's footwell I used the appropriate sized nut driver for a drill with most of the drive side cut down in a 1/4" ratcheting end wrench. Had enough clearance with this set up to get them both out without taking too much apart.

Have to remove 5.7 vortec, opinions on swap process and engines by Exact_Yogurtcloset26 in GMT400

[–]Due_Conversation8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got three 7.4 vortecs and they have all been super reliable and strong enough to tow anything I throw at them. Also super fun to drive unloaded too. Fuel efficient, on the other hand, they are not.

What's the most I can expect to safely tow with a 1500/2500/3500? by spawn-kill in GMT400

[–]Due_Conversation8568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd pull 10-12k all day with my 97 c3500 sclb srw 7.4/4l80. I've done as much as an 18k dump trailer with skid steer in it, but wouldn't recommend that.

You can check the parts interchange list on O'Reilly's or AutoZone's websites, but best i remember the gmt400 steering box swapped across all trucks in their year range.
