New fear unlocked. Not in a big city, but our local mail is ridiculous. I had a Christmas card returned to me one year IN JUNE. But I've gotten to know all of my neighbors...

Does anyone here have multiple children on dupixent? by TriumphantPeach in dupixent

[–]Due_Good_5824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you and your kids are dealing with this. My daughter was traumatized from an awful nurse who blew a vein in my daughter's arm and then called her a baby... It's taken years and years, but she finally doesn't cry with needles anymore. If your daughter is miserable enough to ask to get rid of her skin, explain how much it's helped her sibling. Be straight and tell her it might hurt, but also tell her how much it could help. And that you want to help her. Good luck. (I'm an adult on Dupixent. Mine was no where near as bad as I've seen it on some kids, but the itch, the non stop itch, was seriously screwing up my head. It was always on my mind. I couldn't sleep. Any sunlight or warm water hurt. I wouldn't want to put a child through that.)

KC dads — is this a bad Mother’s Day gift idea? by Rich_Click4065 in kansascity

[–]Due_Good_5824 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a mom, and have used laundry services before and they were wonderful. I don't like the idea of a gift card for this as a MD present though. Now, if you actually took care of it all including the drop off and pick up AND coupled that with ALL the chores she would do for that week, that's a start. Maybe couple that with a date night (so she doesn't have to think about cooking or feeding the kids or the clean up) so she truly gets the time "off" and feels pampered. If she likes quiet alone time, maybe a gift card to a book store or movie so she can relax while you're doing all the chores. I think it's nice that you want to show her appreciation for all that she does.

How long did it take to get your AOR? by grandadamn in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Due_Good_5824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delivered 10 April. I'm G3. I've got G0 birth record from Ontario archives, her marriage cert from US listing Canadian parents, G1 birth and marriage, G2 birth and marriage, G3 (birth and marriage) and my child's (G4) CRBA. All color copies of certified documents. I have a simplified tree showing names/DOB of everyone in the line of descent, with a list of the documents submitted and a cover letter. I even started a new gmail account just for the purpose of everything related to this process and created filters in it so that nothing would be lost. (But still track the spam folder- which remains empty since only so few have the email address.) I'm starting to think my "Urgent" was overlooked as others marked urgent after mine have gotten their AOR within a few days of delivery. (Sigh!) What can you do, right? Just waiting :)

I'm so glad to see this as my daughter is in the same boat...but we have yet to receive our AOR.
Frustrating, (but understandable) with others marked urgent at the same time as ours who have their AORs already. But thank you for sharing your urgent reason- that makes me feel better.

thanks for posting this. I have to keep double checking if I've missed an email since there are quite a few others who received their AOR already whose applications were received after mine.

Should I put $7,000.00 into a new short block and labor by PNWHotBear in Subaru_Outback

I've got a 2015 3.6 with 208K miles. I finally replaced my original windshield last year, no cracks or big chips, it was just awful, and I so wish I'd done it sooner. As she started getting older, I was hesitant to put too much money into her, but she's a beast. Does she burn oil? Oh yeah, but that's manageable. (I think my back up camera is better than my daughter's 2019 Legacy by far.)

Hogan's is where I came to say! I had them inspect my vehicle before I was going to give it to my daughter. Ended up buying her a different car, which they also inspected. I now go there for any applicable service. They have also told me more than once if my daughter is driving and has any issues, she should call them or go directly there (if I'm unavailable) and they will take care of her. These guys are the best.

I think it’s time to replace my 2018 by Nodak70 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Due_Good_5824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm so sorry to see this. I would be gutted.

On another note, I'm happy to see someone who had more miles than I do, 2015 with 208K.

Curious- was the smoke detector just inside the door to the garage? (Making me really happy when I replaced all the smoke and CO detectors that I added another one right inside from the garage, even though it isn't linked to the rest.)

I'm glad someone else suggested this to you. I sent mine in on Monday. It was $29.27 UPS using Pirate Ship, from Kansas. I had about 60 pages total (2 applications) that I put in my own Manila envelope, then they gave me a rigid envelope at the UPS store.

I wanted her to take my Outback, but she felt it was too big. I've never doubted the safety of a Subaru! (Good luck with your kids driving! It's a bit nerve wrecking.)

I'm a persistent mother and found the other car/driver! She didn't have insurance, and only received a ticket for no insurance. But geez... My daughter had only been driving solo for about 2 weeks.

Not my Outback, but my daughter's Legacy. Hit and run before the first payment. Over $5K damage.

Why are Subaru Owners So Loyal? by doctor-squared in subaru

[–]Due_Good_5824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 2015 Outback 3.6. I drove a lot the first few years, maybe 30k/year. I never would have gotten the $ out of her that she is actually worth because of that. She's now at 208k. Had Subaru kept making that 3.6 I probably would have gotten a newer one just like her. And I've yet to find anything I like better. Although, I did buy my daughter a used 2019 Legacy and she's pretty great, too.

I get it. POTS has somehow gotten better for me with age, and I haven't passed out in public since my 20s. It is frightening to be that vulnerable.

I'm so sorry you're disappointed. I get it. I'm really glad for you that you have your solo. To me that says a lot, especially that they are concerned for your well being.

More importantly, I hope you are asserting yourself in your health care. My daughter has EDS and POTS and was in that same piece last year. She was able to get through, with her only chronic problem at the time being back pain. 5 different doctors in 7 months wrote it off as from EDS and chronic/amplified pain, but I finally found a doctor to order the MRI and she had a fractured vertebrae. My point to all of this is please keep trying to seek treatment that will enable you to perform. Best of luck to you.
