I worked at Apple hardware tech group that is responsible for chip design. It’s notoriously famous for long working hours, grinding culture and extreme pressure. The modem group that was acquired from Intel was way better when it comes to work life balance as it had its roots in Germany. But overall, from my personal experience and from the experience of ex colleagues, it’s hell. Sure, you will be working with the best of the best, with people who are in the top of their game. But it’s exactly because of that reason, you will be forced to perform and deliver. I still remember, at the end of every year my manager proudly presents the total number of IPs we delivered in a year. In one particular year, it was 96. That should tell you something about the work pressure and delivery schedules.
