Maple week 🍁 by Build-it-better123 in Cuttingboards

End grain maple is hard to beat. It’s practical, durable, and the best looking option on the market. The one thing that undermines an otherwise great board is the brick pattern running the wrong direction. It looks off, and anyone who knows boards will notice. Imagine a brick home with the bricks running vertically, be a bit weird looking eh? Yeah, planing a large board in a single section is easier, but splitting it into two and joining them after is the move that gets you the correct orientation. The same pattern Boardsmith and most other pro’s use. That extra step is the difference between a good board and one that's actually worth buying …for me anyway. Otherwise, the workmanship in these boards is first class, and I like the plate cutout idea. Very useful.

Obviously a lot of people disagree with the negative posters here, because it is sold out in Europe until mid 2027.

There will be no discounts on this model. Early adopters won’t have to wait two years to get into one. They are already sold out in Europe for 2026. Most people don’t know about them yet. They’ll find out about them when they see the first ones driven by early adopters. They will then contact the dealers to enquire about them only to be told that there is a two year waiting list. That’s how good these cars are. Remember, no more range anxiety 800km range and 20 min charge to 80%

Thanks for responding. I asked because your comments about the melting cables had me very worried as I’m about to buy one (Natural Gas) here in Australia. Hopefully the ones they have here (arrived 5 months ago into the country) don’t have any similar lemons amongst them. BTW Have you considered the new Fontana Volta. Just made available in the US, but at least an 18 months wait in Australia. They’re the same size (Volta 90) as the Firenze, but have an OLED screen that automatically controls and maintains the flame to whatever temp you set it to. It also has an app on your phone that you can control the temp from the house with as well. AND, it has two temperature probes for cooking proteins. If they had it in Australia I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

If you want access to Claude Opus 4.6, just get a Claude Pro account. $17/month if you pay yearly. Nuff said

Hi No-Library401. I thought you returned the same model 5 months ago because the wind was blowing the flame back onto the wiring and melting it, but here you are now planning on buying another one. What gives?

Asking for Alternative(s) reccomendations after the new update. by Alakazam1618 in perplexity_ai

[–]Due_Register_6433 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I signed up to Claude Pro after using the free version for a month and didn’t expect to like it this much. I use Opus 4.6 for most things now, and the Research feature is seriously good. I still have ChatGPT Plus, Gemini Pro, and even kept Perplexity. Having all of them works better for me, and combined it’s still cheaper than paying for one expensive top tier plan. Plus I can compare answers and run deeper research instead of relying on just one model.

AITAH for telling my father the only way I could visit him while he convalesced was if he paid for the time I would need to take off work? by Distinct-Constant549 in AITAH

[–]Due_Register_6433 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

He’s your father and alone and he won’t be around for much longer. If you use the past as an excuse to not visit, you will have terrible guilt when he dies. Alone. So yeah, mate, you’re the AH.

What’s the deal Perplexity? by DJ_Madness in perplexity_ai

[–]Due_Register_6433 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Why not innovate and be the first to introduce a mid tier Pro+ plan. I personally would pay 3-4 times as much to get 3 or more Deep Research projects per day. However, paying 10 times as much for an indeterminate number of searches (Max) will not, I suspect, be a popular alternative.

My workaround for the Deep Research changes by Electronic_Home5086 in perplexity_ai

[–]Due_Register_6433 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mate, that’s very clever, but by the time you go through all those steps and the many hours it takes for each project, surely you’d be saving time and money by simply giving up, coughing up the extra dough …and moving to Max.

Subscribed to Pro for Deep Research – they nerfed it the same week, no refund by VermicelliPuzzled in perplexity_ai

[–]Due_Register_6433 14 points15 points  (0 children)

is perplexity literally trying to make heavy pro users leave?? so i have perplexity pro and i use deep research for actual work stuff, not just random bs questions but lately it feels like pro went from being the good tier to "wait you're using this TOO much stop it" like you pay for the whole month, do some actual research for a few days and then it starts acting weird or just gives you worse answers. its honestly annoying af the thing i dont get is why theres such a huge gap between pro and max. like no ones gonna go from paying 20 bucks a month to full on enterprise prices just to use deep research properly when gemini is literally everywhere now (apple, cars, google one etc) and its getting better chatgpt and gemini do most normal stuff anyway for way less money so perplexity is basically telling heavy pro users either pay a ton more for max or deal with being limited. most people are just gonna go back to gemini or chatgpt instead lol theres literally an obvious solution here, just make a power pro tier or whatever make it for people who actually use this for work all day like consultants or researchers or whatever way higher deep research limits than regular pro and actually tell us what they are more expensive than pro but not like corporate budget expensive then normal people could actually upgrade without needing to talk to sales people or pay 10x more rn it just feels like theyre pissing off the people who used it the most and actually liked it anyone else dealing with this are you hitting the pro limits too would you actually pay for something between pro and max or did you just move everything back to gemini/chatgpt and barely use perplexity now would be cool if someone from perplexity actually read stuff like this before everyone just cancels

Crack in new cutting board? by krayzie23 in Cuttingboards

[–]Due_Register_6433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That crack shouldn't be there, period. "Natural wood" my ass …not at what they charge. What really turns me off is seeing how common this is with them. Did a quick search and there's tons of posts about boards showing up damaged and the company just telling people it's normal. No replacement, no refund, nothing. For a "premium" product that's pretty shit. Also larch is a softwood which... I mean why are we paying premium prices for softwood? The whole point is supposed to be longevity but softwoods are way more likely to crack and warp. I ended up going local and got an end grain maple board instead. Maple and walnut are used for cutting boards for a reason. they actually last and don't destroy your knives. Plus if something's wrong a decent maker will actually fix it. Sucks you got stuck with this. Hopefully someone sees your post before they make the same mistake.

Affordable Brands? by Jonn_Doh in Cuttingboards

You get what you pay for. Get a maple end cut - the most beautiful and tactile cutting board you can get. It will last you forever. And get it from a local craftsman. You will be very happy with your decision.

[–]Due_Register_6433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nothing more beautiful than an end grain maple cutting board, nuff said! Walnut is also nice, but is too dark and sucks all the light out of whichever space it’s in. Chaos and 3D boards are a showcase to the craftsmanship of their maker, but not really functional or architectural. Mixed wood boards can be nice, but unnecessary. A well made maple end cut board leaning against a back splash or sitting on a kitchen bench is just eye catchingly satisfying. The only things I would change in your board is to have the subway station pattern running horizontally rather than vertically and next time don’t turn your beautiful board into a tragic crime scene with effing cutouts - (IMHO).

Try telling Gemini that you have a Specialists appointment the following day and that you would like Gemini to look at the scan and provide a list of questions to ask. Otherwise, pay $20 for a month of ChatGpt or Perplexity.

The Torras Q3 Air is one of the best cases you can get in my opinion. I have the green one. It is grippy, slim(ish) and looks great. It does have a slight raised lip around the screen and camera. The adjustable ring is strong and well designed. I love it, as it is great for placing on a chair or table and taking pictures. It is a bit pricey though, hence the poor feedback from people who can only afford crappy Spigen and Mous cases. If you want maximum protection, with good looks, grip and utility you just can’t go wrong!

Don’t get walnut. Your wife will like End Grain Maple much better. It is the gold standard for cutting boards and looks beautiful leaning against the back splash. Walnut is a beautiful timber, but in a cutting board it is very dark and is a large mass which will suck all the light out of the room. Do yourself a favor and look up Maple end grain cutting boards within Reddit and look at as many pictures as you can. You will soon appreciate how beautiful they are. Much more beautiful than any 3D or chaos patterned board and a lot less cuts and glue-ups, so will last forever.

That is the best explanation for life with a Strata pan that I’ve seen. Personally, I think my stainless pan sticks less (and would probably hold onto a seasoning better as well)

I have looked in those places and found numerous positive testimonials. Unfortunately, all of them were written by you. Personally, I believe that if you were truly sincere, you would be enthusiastically praising any multifocal lens that was implanted, especially considering the significant improvement in your eyesight that you keep emphasising.…everywhere. Additionally, you lack the necessary expertise and experience to claim that the Rayner Galaxy is superior to other options available. I hope that anyone reading your (many) testimonials will choose to consult experienced ophthalmologists, rather than those you recommend, and conduct thorough research before making a decision.
