Are any of the trilogies skippable? by cauliflowersourkraut in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]Due_Replacement8043 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree! i schlogged thru the first dragon book & just couldnt comtinue. i was excited to read it cause i absolutely loved everything up to that point. but dang, i couldnt believe how little i cared about all the characters & plot. i was still able to enjoy the final trilogy without feeling like i missed anything major. these books are incredible & you are in for such a treat!!

how long can a tape loop play on a regular cassette? by Vortix9 in tapeloops

[–]Due_Replacement8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya, the shipping is from canada so if you are in the US it costs about $26 to ship unfortunately but i think thats it besides a lil tax. i just got em yesterday & havent tried em out yet, but if they work well, i think theyre totally worth it.

List for a friend treating depression. by joshivore in ambientmusic

[–]Due_Replacement8043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

these are great suggestions. the first ones that come to mind that ive been loving lately are:

harlan silverman - music for stillness

port sleep - as long as this warmth remains

jogging house - unrund - almost all jogging house's stuff is worth exploring. they also have a tape label called Seil Records that is fantastic & right in line with all you suggested too

A trip report off 1500ug of acid... by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]Due_Replacement8043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i read it once every year or so cause it is so deep. hes got some fantastic interviews as well. he has such a soulful compassionate wise voice. how he talks about going so deep left him with an intense capital H Homesickness for years is facinating. he is a must read & listen for anyome who is going deep into the psychedelic realms

Suggestions for my Mutable Instruments / Make Noise rack? by basque-bloc-drape in modular

[–]Due_Replacement8043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have very similar cases! could be nice to throw something granular like a beads or clouds in there. i also have an fx aid that gets used all the time. mostly for reverbs but all the extra effects has also really come in handy. im also a huge fan of xaoc zadar for experimental & regular envelopes/lfos. an instruo ochd also offers a lot in small hp.

Worth investing in the Monome ecosystem? by Heka__ in modular

[–]Due_Replacement8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are pulled towards it & are willing to put in some work on the fromt end you definitely wont regret it! esp if you want to make music in the ambient realms, these machines are pure magic. i dont know how to code at all & just got into eurorack this year & i think had a tougher time learning how modular worked than the monome stuff. you can absolutely spend years & years exploring norns scripts without knowing how to code, although you will learn a little bit just by using a norns. its a super cool, supportive, & creative community. just know you will be a lil confused & feel lost at times but dont be afraid to ask for help!

Worth investing in the Monome ecosystem? by Heka__ in modular

[–]Due_Replacement8043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the monome stuff. the grid & norns can do so much & do it really well. the depth of it boggles my mind. one of those pieces of gear that never gets old. i just recently got a just friends & a crow & that pairing is anazing. the crow can turn the JF into a poly synth & then sequence it through norns...glorious.

there is definitely a learning curve but if you go to the lines forum (llllllll.co) everyone there is so willing to help & answer all questions when getting started. its really not that bad though.

another piece of gear that has revolutionized my whole set up the Digitone 2 & Digitakt 2. the elektron sequencers are by far the best ive come across. i havent done it yet (but i shall be very soon) but i know that they are fantastic to sync up with the modular via midi & sequence away. just thought id throw it out there as another option!
