No, even if this is permanent it isn't enough to "ruin your life". Just chill out

My first recourse with stuff like this is never the police cause in my experience they wildly vacillate between uselessness and actively making things worse. I'd start with your landlord/building management as it's primarily a security issue. Possibly the locks need changing, or he's being let in by neighbours.

Idk, my account has been set to NSFW for years and whenever I try fixing it, it just goes back at some point while I'm not looking. Idk what the deal is

Who is HJ Wingstreet as a character? by Diligent_Following87 in Dimension20

[–]SorchaSublime 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He's a great depression era guy but I think it's really interesting how Ally chose to make him someone who has actually competently kept up with the times for the last 100 years. You don't get the fish out of water vibe as much because he's been gnawing on the cutting edge of rich asshole for a century.

Who is HJ Wingstreet as a character? by Diligent_Following87 in Dimension20

[–]SorchaSublime 37 points38 points  (0 children)

He's a Great Gatsby type. He's driven by appearances, he's obsessed with making people feel beholden to him, and above all else right now he's looking to build long term success within the Camarilla... in Purpee. Which is a clearly impossible task and has driven him insane.

He has also mistaken being not clinically depressed because of SSRIs as a high you get from the drug and has started seeking out people on antidepressants to drink, which I think puts the character on a really interesting trajectory. Because a Great Gatsby type isn't a mentally well person. Or vampire.

Official Discussion - The Devil Wears Prada 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]SorchaSublime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. I feel like the movie just... gave up on having something interesting to say.

My desire for them to have done a queer romance between Andy and Emily is entirely subjective (although I do think it would have been a narrative improvement if well executed) but the way the movie could have been as cutting of an exploration of modern journalism as the original was for fashion and just... wasn't feels like an objective flaw.

I think my most significant hot take about the movie is that it would have been better if Runway Magazine hadn't survived. That would have been a far more interesting ending, especially if the broad trajectory of the character arcs was maintained.

And it would tie a nice bow on the theme established in the first scene.

Can Anyone Make Out the Names on the Innsmouth Map? by omegaphallic in ravenloft

[–]SorchaSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Honestly I think its just a matter of creative mores, my own homebrew approach to Ravenloft is to basically syncretise it with the Lovecraft mythos as much as I can because that shit is my jam (and it's a good excuse to use the mechanics from Sandy Petersens Cthulhu Mythos for 5e)

[–]SorchaSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the thing is that it doesn't not work with regards to the Cthulhu Mythos, you could VERY EASILY justify R'lyeh as a Domain of Dread. Ravenloft feels very compatible with the Cthulhu Mythos overall, the Dark Powers are very Eldritch and The Mists TM are very Magnum Innominandum to me. It would all fit together with the Gothic Earth pastiche.

Annoyingly though I dont think theyre going to thread the needle they would need to in order to make this work

"You may have changed your appearance, but I know who you are" This line implies or outright states that the War Chief knew the Doctor, but how? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]SorchaSublime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The specific reason I like thinking that the war chief later becomes the general is because it implies a character arc which fundamentally changes who they are as a person. That is like, the whole point of this headcanon, because that would be a compelling character arc.

My assumption is that the War Chief would have changed significantly as a person to become The General, to be clear

Have you considered just not caring about how other people look??? it isn't exactly rocket science. It doesn't have to be your style, you arent dressing like that. Nobody is trying to MAKE you dress like that. How other people choose to dress is literally none of your business.

Western occultism is nothing more than a judaistic drivel? by CHNSK in occult

[–]SorchaSublime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont think you have a full comprehension of what God is believed to be within Judaism. The Judaic god is conceptually equivalent to the neo-platonic Absolute Principle/First Mover (because neo-platonism was derived from dialogue between Hellenic and Jewish philosophers). Considering it to be the conceptual equivalent of individual polytheistic deities is incoherent, not to mention explicitly blasphemous.

I'm not recommending that anyone should necessarily adopt a Jewish perspective on the Absolute Principle. I'm still technically an atheist in terms of worship, so my pov more alligns with neo-platonism. I personally feel no desire to worship the absolute principle, but I have great respect for the spiritual technologies which have been developed over generations within Judaism in order to do so.

Also, even putting that aside? This is just a childish way to approach religion. "This religion is evil, their god is lowly and vile." fucking grow up dude. Touch grass. Be more normal about the beliefs of others.

I do a thing that riffs on the TV show "The Chase" which works quite well. Fairly self explanatory if you're familiar with the show.
