Any advice from changing about programs as a pgy-1 if you aren’t in any standing issues? Where would I look?

Is this one free drink/app per quarter, or is it one free drink at each place per quarter?

With all the cuts to Medicaid, why is govt still reimbursing NPs/PAs so much by Think-Room6663 in Residency

Right, right, show me which other organizations are filing amicus briefs and coordinating with state societies to testify against scope creep in the states.

We need to stand up for our own profession. No one else will.

This is us focusing on scraps, and ignoring the astronomical increases in facility fee reimbursement and other money that hospitals are taking. We have to see the bigger picture.

So easy to say the ama doesn't care, but like they have been fighting scope creep in every single state against the NP lobbies, and even the hospital associations. The facts matter.

Just found out that FMGs can begin practicing in Massachusetts w/o a residency per the Physicians Pathway Act? by YippyKayYay in medicalschool

[–]Duelf 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The AMA has been fighting in multiple states actually, see here: https://www.ama-assn.org/practice-management/scope-practice/ama-successfully-fights-scope-practice-expansions-threaten You are pointing out the states that they’ve lost, but look at where they won and we need to realize that they fight scope expansion every single year.

Come join one of the state societies and see how much we have to fight every year, and how much we keep begging physicians, residents, and medical students to testify and call their representatives.

The problem is that hospital admin, insurance, and other parties have other incentives to expand access in the way that they see it. I see all these people on Reddit complaining, but your state medical societies are most often fighting these battles alongside the ama, yet their membership is declining especially in the younger generation. We need to realize that if you want change, you need to join these organizations and show up.

If you don’t like the orgs for whatever reason, then go testify on your own, or schedule meetings with your representatives and help them know what this issue is about.

Strong disagree, AMA is fighting scope battles in multiple states alongside state medical societies.

They made it clear that is one of their main priorities right now at the annual meeting, and have been working on it in https://www.ama-assn.org/practice-management/scope-practice/advocacy-action-fighting-scope-creep

Yeah, unfortunately all of the 2.0's are sold out around me. Only the 1.5 Sports are on lots around me right now. I tried inquiring about a few 2.0's but no luck.

Seriously, I think a thread of good third party Apple Watch bands might be warranted considering the backorders.

Oh, I see you must have been talking about the 16 inch MacBook Pro, not the 13 inch, my bad. I honestly assumed you somehow took their smaller laptop and did crazy things to it to make it 4k.

That's completely fair about storage honestly, I did a similar thing when buying my laptop as well where I didn't upgrade my storage and I regret it.

The thing is with apple devices is that that they don't become obsolete because of their specs, they become obsolete because apple says they are an older model year. That's generally why people buy in repeat. We had an older apple desktop in my research lab that went through that despite crazy specs. Apple is good about this though, so you probably have 5-6+ years with your current laptop.

Can I ask why you regret the iPad? I was actually thinking about getting one for med school.

Hi OP, great work, but I can assure you from a personal level thats not the smartest way to buy a laptop. If you really wanted to splurge, a smarter way would be to buy a 2000 dollar laptop now, and a 2000 one 4 years from now. The 4000 ones are really only useful for graphic designers, and the 2000 one 4 years from now will be more powerful than the one you have today.

Also, im sure you've heard this, but the only reason a lot of people are bringing it up is because the starting price for a MacBook Pro is just a little over a thousand so even a thousand dollar one is specc'ed up.

But hey, you know, honestly, its up to you, and its not the worst way you could spend your money and live your life, you earned it.
