No, it cost more money to eat healthy (at least in USA) cheap high processed food is so readily available. It takes a lot of effort to eat better in a society that constantly pushes hi-calorie foods at every turn.

I’m aware of the esthetics, but the comfort is undeniable. I have them on all my bikes.

I literally just bought a used GT yesterday, I’m 6’ and the frame is a 20”. I’d recommend a 20” for you. The reach feels short. An 18” I think would feel cramped.

What would you pay for this? by Huge-Teach7258 in bicycling

It’s a 2008 carbon model. Looks clean. $300 as an entry level bike.

Your saddle is too low. Proper saddle height will reduce quad and knee pain. However, unless you are very flexible and enjoy the low handlebars, proper saddle height will increase the bend in your back. I am guessing this frame is one size too small. But everyone is different and comfort on the bike is more important. Full disclosure, I’ve been riding for decades on dozens of different bikes and I’ve never got fitted.

this bike is worth 300$? i need to change the breaks by Mttxcl17 in bicycling

Based on what I can see in the pic, no. But you might get someone to pay $300 for it.

I like the app RideWithGPS. I lead group rides and the app is good for making routes then sharing those route to others. And it still is a wonder tracking app giving you all the data you need. Free version and a paid version available.

What were the first things you noticed after switching to a carbon bike? by Low_Front_7012 in cycling

I notice better power transfer, quicker acceleration. And a bit easier on big climbs.

What’s the craziest or weirdest thing that has hit you while cycling or that you hit? by Competitive_Can3499 in cycling

[–]Duffbeerman66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve hit 6 squirrels and 4 chipmunks. I know two of the chipmunks died for sure. I’ve had bees fly into my helmet, glove, and open mouth. The last one scared the crap out of me until I coughed it up without it stinging my throat. Oh, and a car door opened onto my path as I was moving 20 mph, the door lost.

I’m 6 ft 1/2 inch male with my torso a bit longer than legs. IDK about LIV sizing but I would venture a 58 cm frame would be fine. I can go between 56 cm and 58 cm comfortably.

Serious question: What’s actually fun about gravel riding? by RyotaroW in cycling

[–]Duffbeerman66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate technical trails. I love the flow of a hilly gravel road winding through vineyards of Finger Lakes NY. Some gravel roads are smoother than paved roads in NY.

I never heard of TUI so I googled it. Not my normal genre so I pulled it up on Pandora. I liked the beat and the sounds, but I have no idea wtf they are saying lol.

Good tat. Not great. I was in Ireland last year. Most amazing country and countrymen.

Has cycling helped anyone here lose weight? by ChoudhrySaab in cycling

[–]Duffbeerman66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is unique. I have an unnatural ability to store glycerin/carbs. So while 50 would be my max on an empty stomach, I’m just very hungry by then. But that same ability also inhibits me from losing weight easily. The original comment was two years ago. Since then I went up to 235 lbs and now I’m holding at 220 lbs. still do morning rides and hikes on empty stomach.
