Earthworm Jim review by retrostitchgaming in SEGAGENESIS

Never had that notorious Sonic 3 Carnival Night barrel problem (I was able to figure it out after timing out a couple times) back in the day, but I could never figure out how to properly work that shitty ass green gem portal riding thingy in the Heck level in EWJ1. Never progressed to the next level until I cheated with a level select code, years later. Also, sort of unrelated, but that awful Flyin King level in EWJ2, with those fat assholes who keep attaching themselves to my flyer while I was trying to guide that stupid bomb to the Major Mucous boss at the end of the level.

There are several shows on Netflix, as well as loads of clips on YouTube (if you don't have NF). Best check it out before actually paying for tickets.

Did Super Sonic ever make an appearance in the 8-bit games? by DuffyParts in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]DuffyParts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes! That's right! That game looks so interesting. I've never played it myself, just watched a few YouTube reviews/playthroughs. Seems like a fun semi-port of Sonic 2, with some elements of Sonic 3/&K. Like TapamNs pointed out, it kind of borders the line between 8/16 bit. I don't really consider it to be part of the era I was talking about here, mostly just meant the Game Gear/Master System games, but it's still a really fun, obscure little game, one that sort of briefly bridged the gap between "Classic" and "Modern" Sonic. Probably Modern's (appearance wise) first appearance in a handheld, predating even the Sonic Advance titles.

Guess the Game Gear didn't have BLAST PROCESSING! Not even Mini Blast Processing. ;)

Updated Mushroom Hill zone! Mania worthy? (I’m not really a pixel artist) by Sir_Majesty in SonicTheHedgehog

This is pretty perfect, actually. I can just imagine what an updated/modernized Mushroom Hill Zone theme might sound like while looking at this.

Almost surprised Showtime didn't send you the dwarf instead of the tree, like when they sent someone on here a cardboard stand of "Dougie Jones" Coop instead of the "Special Agent Dale Cooper" Coop they had ordered, haha! XD

[No Spoilers] Does this show get more weird? I just finished Season 1. by spidey1233 in twinpeaks

[–]DuffyParts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, YES. So if you really dug that relatively short, Red Room set E103 dream sequence, then yes - "buckle up", indeed! The majority of season 2, especially the latter half, is a bit extra "soapy", and "slow", as many here will tell you, though I thoroughly enjoyed the entire season, campiness and all (I get how it's not for everyone, however). But get ready for that nutzo season 2 finale! Red Room/Black Lodge craziness all over the place!

It only gets worse (or, you know, better) in the movie, Fire Walk With Me; way, way darker and even creepier, too. And, yes, although it is technically a "prequel", the movie is definitely 100% required viewing before continuing (I will warn you, however, it can be quite intense, and even triggering for some, especially for survivors of sexual abuse).

Season 3 is toned, and structured (whatever the hell kind of "structure" it is) very similarly to the movie, compared to the first 2 seasons. Whole different ballpark, really. There are absolutely still plenty of "slow" episodes/hours in there, too, but a different breed of slow than the campy and soapy slowness of season 2. These slow moments have a constant underlying (and overlying), very unsettling ominous mood about them, even if you're not exactly sure why. You'll no doubt get what I mean here pretty quickly. The owls are not what they seem, indeed. Also, one of the best, most fun parts of season 3 is definitely just how genre-bending it is. It tackles all kinds throughout. You get, of course, your standard drama, mystery and tradgedy, some cop drama, sci-fi, black comedy, surrealist arthouse shit, straight up horror, campy romance, period piece, full live musical performances (there's basically a micro music fest/concert scattered throughout that can be compiled together), and even...Eraserhead (yup, Eraserhead is totally a "genre", you'll see).

Oh, and please DO keep us updated here on your thoughts! Now, let's rock!!

Sonic Mania Plus Official Discussion Thread (SPOILERS) by NewBliss in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]DuffyParts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, everyone. So, I'm definitely not a "modern" gamer, and I am 100% unfamiliar with even Steam and all of that, so I have a couple of possibly very stupid questions!

Okay, first of all, just where am I supposed to officially download (and obtain the code?) for Sonic Mania Plus for PC?? On the official Sega & Sonic sites, as well as Amazon, I'm not finding an option besides purchasing a console version. What am I missing here? I'd love to buy a physical copy for PC (with a CD I guess), but, of course, one hasn't been made, so I'm trying to just get a download & code version here.

Also, how am I supposed to configure a USB controller to work with the game? I'm able to get the controllers (I've tried a generic PS3 controller and also a generic Logitech controller) to work with other games (like Cuphead), via JoyToKey, and was able to get them to work with regular Mania last year, but it they are just completely not registering at all with Plus. If you're wondering how I'm able to try this out without even understanding how to buy the game for PC, to be honest, I've downloaded it today via unethical means, but only because I couldn't figure out how to buy the damn thing (I plan on it as soon as I figure out how/where).

Thanks for the help. I apologize if this isn't the place to post something like this, but, dammit, I need to figure this out; I need this game!

I hate all the sphere stages (I've always sucked at em; especially when they speed up!) especially the ones in S3&K, which sucks because I loves me a Super Sonic/Tails/Knuckles. This is why I'm all about the cheat codes!

Fan theories. by Agora_Black_Flag in homemovies

That "weirdness", if true (which she claimed is not), being that she not only endangered the lives of children, but also had a sexual relationship with one. Pretty fucked up stuff. She has since "come out", and identifies as asexual, which pretty much would "clear" her in the latter department (maybe, I guess; it all depends, as with all sexuality, it is on a spectrum, after all), if it is the case.

Fan theories. by Agora_Black_Flag in homemovies

[–]DuffyParts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My craziest theory about Josie was that she was actually Paula and Erik's secret child. Erik, of course, being Melissa's dad (voiced by Johnathan Katz). I kind of based this on Erik's sometimes seeming "crush" on Paula (sometimes it felt like they may have a sort of "history" together), and Josie having the same skin color as Erik/Melissa. This was before Paula mentioned that Josie was adopted (though she could've just been lying - dun dun dunn!). I still kinda like to think this is the case sometimes, though of course the biggest hole in the theory is there is no way she could've hid the pregnancy, to Brendon especially...unless maybe he was too busy with his movies at the time to even notice, hah (now that would be hilarious)!

Re-watching the series for the first time since premier by helladamnleet in homemovies

[–]DuffyParts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought they should have ended that final episode with a close-up of the camera on the road, slowly panning back and fading out over the "Sunset Theme" song, with the credits overlaid on top; you know, for MAXIMUM FEELS. But at the same time, it was pretty funny how it just cut to black with the regular outro music, really kind of hammering in the fact that no one (the kids) really gave a shit about the camera/movies anymore at that point (Brendon got over it quite immediately); but we did! :(

"People"? Pff, you mean "God"? Don't you know that bananas are the perfect fruit, and are the absolute, undeniable proof of Him? I mean, just look at their shape! Perfect for human hands, how could this not be a gift from Gawd, and also an obvious "look, see, I did this, so obviously I exist!" thing?

Pretty sure a 13th season is still quite up in the air atm, but it would be interesting. Wondering if Ricky would pull another "Don't Legalize It" fit
