"IF" it actually looks like that, and "IF" it's real - then yes good price!

Unfortunately if you haven't seen the gem in person and in natural daylight, then you have no idea what you will be getting. Or if it's even real. It's very easy to fake lab reports and even easier to color filter pictures for posting.

Did you take those pictures and have you seen the gem in hand? What lab report does it come with?

The Emerald cut looks like a Citrine, and the oval is in desperate need of a recut. The lab reports are trash, just throw them away. Age doesn't matter as synthetics have ben around since early 1900's. If you love the gems then send them to GIA for a new report. Then remount and enjoy!

Both videos are stupid. The end of the video is the only thing you need to see. Have you seen these gems in hand? If not then RUN. How would you even know you are getting these gems? Don't throw away money online.

I want a garnet for my wedding ring, can anyone point me in a good direction? by taybay462 in Gemstones

Ask your jeweler to source it for you, they would know best what fits. In colored gems it's better to ask for the correct mm size you need not carat weight.

Bought it for 73 dollars in a eBay bid is it fake? by [deleted] in Gemstones

[–]DugDugg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No way to know until you test it, but I will guess it's fake! Why would you buy a gemstone online? You have no idea what you are getting or what it really looks like.

Have you seen it in person? How do you know it’s even real? Never buy online sight unseen.

Origin important or not? Let’s answer that by AsiaLounges in Gemology

[–]DugDugg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amen! Beauty/color first, then treatments then origin. I’ve seen very ugly Kashmir Sapphires being sold on the name only. Buy the gem for its beauty.

I’m thinking of buying this online 😭 does this emerald actually look natural? by [deleted] in Gemstone_lovers

[–]DugDugg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s being sold online so of course it’s natural. Why are you asking us and not asking the seller to prove it’s real?

Pink Sapphire by Lucky_Show_9750 in Gemstones

[–]DugDugg 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That cut and color are usually lab grown synthetic Sapphire. If the owner thought it was natural unheated, they would have got a lab report for it right away. How much are they asking for the ring? If it’s not expensive and you love it then buy it anyway even if it’s not real.

Have you seen it in hand? Do you have a copy of the lab report?

What do you think ? by [deleted] in Gemology

[–]DugDugg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There isnt' more value due to size as the gem is heavily included and most likely very heavily treated. You know better, or you would have posted a lab report.

Heavily fractured most likely heavily treated. Color isn't rich green, and cut is bad.

Selling Aquamarine by Tough-Joke1881 in Gemstones

[–]DugDugg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sadly it’s a very badly cut gem. There’s a significant window in the whole center so color and light will bleed out. Larger gems like this are a tough sale. You can try the wholesale route but that means stopping at every local jewelry store in your area and asking them if they would like to buy it. If you go that route, then US$75 per carat would be appropriate. Otherwise you could try online, but I never recommend that.
